Why is this so difficult for me?

The first time I got married, it wasn't hard, I chose the colors: Red Black and Ivory

Now i'm trying to avoid red because , thats what i had for the first wedding and I don't want that one again.

Possibilities:

Chocolate Brown and Tiffany Blue
Navy Blue and Grey
Burghandy (other colors, not sure yet)
Royal Blue (With other colors)
Deep Purple and Lavender

This is so difficult for me right now. :/

  • I totally feel you on that one.
This is a second wedding for me as well. I opted for the intimate "lets get married at the courthouse and party" approach, but this is FI's first time getting married, and along with him and his parents, and myself (most of the time)-- we are super excited to plan a wedding and have it be a great party that everyone gets to celebrate with us.

With that being said, I totally get ya with the making it different than the last one. My baby brother even pointed it out to me because he thought I was "planning the same wedding" that I hd before (very sports oriented)-- we have a FEW OSU inspired things for our wedding, but there is totally not a sports theme this time around. Just some accents. And, our colors are scarlet and grey... (my colors last time were silver and royal blue)

From the colors you've listed I really like the tiffany blue and chocolate brown.
That, or the different colors of purple.

good luck choosing!! It's crazy how much of a decision wedding colors can be!

  •  I went through this torment as well. It's is just such a big first decision, the colors can become the center of your wedding. If you want them to, they can be found in absolutely everything; the invites, the dresses/ties and vests, the flowers and your cake.
At first I wanted scarlet & gray but that color scheme is just sooo overdone in this area and I always try to be and do something different then everyone else. Then I wanted tiffany blue, black and silver because my engagement ring is a one carat aquamarine resting between black and white diamonds, but those colors, though beautiful, are just to modern for my vintage/rustic fall wedding. I wanted to keep the blue because I looove this ring, but went with a deep purple too. I thought this would be a surprising and dramatic surprise. Not a color combination I have seen before. The color purple is also special to me because it represents another special gift my FI gave me that I adore! What is your wedding inspiration? Find an image that inspires you and draw your colors from there.
I live on pinterest right now and there you have so many different ideas for color combinations! Obviously I like the blue, but maybe combine it with navy and gray to keep it from being to dark. Or the shades of purple would be awesome too...that would bring the "ombre" idea into play for you and that is sooo popular right now and is ALL OVER pinterest. Royal blue with white and turquoise would be an unexpected combination.
I am sooo sorry for the long drawn out post, but I went through so many colors and listened to all of my friends and family's suggestions/critisims and ended up doing what noone thought and exactly what I wanted. That's what you sould do!
