Sunday wedding?

We could save a boat load of dinero by having a Sunday wedding. Any pros or cons, as long as there are no football  or baseball games on?

Re: Sunday wedding?

  • We had a Sunday wedding last October. There was a home saints game that day, the schedule was not released yet when we set the date, but it didn't affect us too badly. Hotel prices were a bit steep, but it's typical for that time of year anyhow. I will say this: we did a bar crawl Friday night and a lot of our friends went out Saturday as well, so the reception was a bit more subdued than it would have been otherwise. It was still a ton of fun and everyone stated til the end. I heard that everyone e went out after also. I guess it depends on your crowd. We had all OOT so they didn't have to worry about working the next day.

<div>If you think your family and friends will go for it (and show up), I say do it!  I have Jewish and Seventh DayAdventist friends who have had weddings on Sunday, and it can work well for travel purposes if Monday is a holiday (Memorial Day, Labor Day, etc.).  I would be a little concerned about the actual wedding time.  If you are having your wedding at a mainstream Protestant church (or a Catholic one for that matter), I wonder if the church would have very strict guideline on when you could have the wedding on a Sunday.  If you have it at the reception site, you should be home free.  Good luck!</div>
  • We are a DW with all OOO guests and are having a Sunday wedding.  We figured they'd have to take off either Friday or Monday anyway and who wouldn't rather take a Monday off, right? :)
Although, several people have already said they will be staying for a longer duration.

Everything was infinitely easier to book and we've had our pick of vendors, as they've all been free.  In addition, we were able to get discounts on many of our bigger bookings.  Our wedding is in May, so we don't have to worry about football, so I can't attest to any cons there, but we're excited about our choice!

    Good luck!
  • I would think having it on a Sunday afternoon, the church would like it better, because staff is already around, so they go get lunch, and have a wedding!
