Couples shower...?

Ok this is kind of an odd issue I'm having.  My fiance's aunt offered to throw us a couples shower a long time ago when we first got engaged.  We were thrilled and said of course and have kept in touch and agreed that it would be on September 15th.  Several weeks ago she was asking very specific questions about shower themes, food, etc.  The issue is that we have not received an invitation for the shower.  My bridal party and our family members have asked if they should continue to keep that day open for the shower despite not having received invitations and I'm not sure what to tell them.  Is it rude to call and say hey just wondering how everything was going...and by the way when are you sending invites?  It's in 10 days and while I'm so grateful she is wanting to throw us a party, I seriously just don't know what to tell people about what time and if it's happening, etc when they ask.  What would y'all do?  Thanks

Re: Couples shower...?

  • I would contact her and say something like "One of the BMs asked about the shower and said she didn't get an invitation.  Have you had any return to you undelivered?  I can call people to let them know about the shower since it's next weekend"  That way you're assuming that she followed through and sent the invitations.  Not quite as accusatory.

I had a similar thing happen to us.  Fiance's family friends offered to do the same and 2 weeks before -- no invitations.  I called my future MIL and asked if she could save an invitation for my scrapbook, since I wasn't mailed one.  She followed through for me and found out they hadn't been sent.  Long story short, they went out late and people still came. WHEW!
  • My mom received a shower invite today...awkward conversation averted.  Whew
  • Good!  Hope you have a wonderful couples shower. :)
  • lol. glad she finally sent the invites out!
