My friend had her ceremony & reception there this pass June. That was my 4th or 5th time going to The Balcony. Everytime I have been there it was great. There food is good. I do think there prices are a little high. I think she paid $11,000 for a Friday night wedding for 250 people.

I am raaandomly checking out this board because the other NOLA boards are slow.  Anyway, we had our wedding (ceremony and reception) at The Balcony in May 2008.  We had a Sunday evening wedding so it was less expensive.  Overall, I think you get a LOT for what you are paying at The Balcony.  They might be a little pricier than some other locations in the suburbs, but I think the quality of the food and service really makes up for it.  Our wedding went off perfectly - not a single problem.  We felt very well taken care of.  DH and I barely ate (surprise surprise) but we heard from everyone else how good the food was.   I am surprised to hear that someone would say the food was bad - I have never heard a bad thing about them.

I have pictures of our wedding in my blog.  Click on the wedding label on the left hand side.

ETA:  hmm, weird, my sig doesn't show up here.  my blog is:  http://nolasteph.blogspot.com

I had my reception at The Balcony in July, and I cannot tell you enough how pleased I was with the food, service, etc! Prior to my own reception, I had been to several receptions there in the past and was quite impressed with the food-top notch ALL THE WAY!! One thing my guests raved about was how marvelous the food was!  Def. traditional new orleans cajun/creole cuisine, and it was neverending! I loved everything about The Balcony, including the gorgeous ballroom type feel to  it, and for the price we paid, everything was included, I'd def. recommend it to anyone!!!

I am getting married at the Balcony in October 2010.  I have been a bridesmaid in two weddings there and have been to many receptions.  The food is really good, better than any other place I've been to in Metairie.  The other thing I really liked was when I booked I got to speak with the chef, who told me I could request anything and as long as he could get it, he would.  Also, they don't use any frozen fried food, anything they fry is fresh - which I thought was really good.

As for the price, when you factor in everything that's included - the cake, food, alcohol, china and silverware, tableclothes, dj, etc It is really worth it.

Also, they just remodeled the upstairs where you take pictures.  They put in this gorgeous dark hardwood floor.  I can't wait to see how good the pictures will look!

I went to a wedding there. I thought the food was excellent. My only complaint is they had special food for the wedding party upstairs while they were taking pictures. That is fine they had food brought up there but I thought it was kind of rude to walk by the guests with crab cakes head upstairs and not have them for the regular guests. I am just a huge fan of crab cakes so maybe that was why I noticed...=)

    Hi everyone,

We are just stumbling upon this post and wanted to take a second to follow up. First of all, thank you to all of those that wrote such wonderfull reviews of us. We think we are doing a great job, but it is really something special to know that others think so as well. We can't be everywhere on the internet, so we really appreciate that people jumped in when we couldn't. I hope that the weddings that were upcoming when this post was new exceeded all expectations, and hopefully the 4 people that were unhappy in the past are now singing our praises as well. Thanks again, and please say hello when you are with us again at The Balcony.

    Sincerely,
    The Balcony
