i did one thing

Hello all, I have been reading allot on this board however I have not done much for my April 17, 2010 wedding. Yesterday I met with Colleen from Divine Design and I lover her so I have a florist. I do not have a dress, a bio, caterer, photographer, and bridesmaids dress, however I have a florist. At first I was not going to have a florist because I did not think I could afford one. I planned on just having my aunts make my bouquets and going to the flower wholesaler. However you are all so right Colleen is so reasonable price I may as well have hire her.I will be attending the running of the brides at Filene’s basement next week in DC. So hopefully I will have a dress on Friday. I have made an appointment for Friday just in case I do not find a dress at the sale.I am super excited. I love Colleen; I had a moment in her office because it was the first time I felt like a bride to be.

congrats :-) love colleen!i wish i had a chance to do the running of the brides, it's something i always wanted to do, but the timing was off for me. i ended up going to the bridal garden in nyc, which is a similar type of thing-- sample gowns donated by the designers (including really high end like vera, monique, angel sanchez, as well as brands like maggie sottero) and you can buy them for a really discounted rate and the proceeds go to nyc children's charities. if that's the kind of dress you want and don't mind taking a long trip to nyc, i'd highly recommend it!!

yay!!  congrats!  We're using her too and absolutely love her.  We're actually going to see our mock centerpiece in two weeks...so excited. And that 'I'm a bride' moment - it's so surreal, isn't it?

I'd recommend Brides Against Breast Cancer, too. They travel around the country, but if you can find a date and place that works for you it was a great experience! And all the money goes to cancer research and treatment.

As a note for Filene's, if the morning is too crazy for you and you don't find a dress, if you stick around the area, try going back again in the afternoon.  I went when I got off work around 5:30, and they still had a TON of dresses left, but only about 10-15 other brides, and I could actually take the dresses back to the dressing room instead of stripping in the middle of the store, haha.
