Questions to Ask when Visiting Venue

Hey girls! I am doing my first in person visit on Monday and was wondering what non-obvious questions I should be asking? I want to make sure I ask the right things and find out all I need to know. Thanks!!

I asked about hidden costs - parking fees? A girl didn't realize her venue was charging her for each car that guests drove and it added up quickly.  If they are doing catering for you as well, ask about cake cutting fees, wine uncorking fees, and other craziness that venues can pad the bill with.  Aside from money, are you the only wedding that will be taking place that day? How do they coordinate multiple events? If they are also serving food, when can you taste? How far in advance do they need your final guest count?  What happens if a guest cancels after you have given your final total?  What is the age cut-off for "kids?"Rules against sparklers, rose petals, other decor items? What time can you arrive at the venue prior to the start of the wedding? Is there an option to extend the party if your guests are having too much fun to end the night? How much do extra hours cost? That's all I can think of in my sleep deprived state.  HTH and congrats on your first visit! It's so exciting to be a bride!

Thanks so much for the info. I should also add, this venue does not provide catering. I am so excited - Its one of my first wedding things, aside from sending my "will you be my bridesmaids" puzzles out yesterday.

Get any pricing in writing (I had some issues @ my venue with prices changing after we had originally discussed them). If you want a candy buffet ask before you buy anything. Some venues won't allow them. How far can you get to the site in advance on the day of?When should you drop all of your "stuff" off? (Toasting flutes, cake cutter, escort cards... etc)Those were some I don't think Tiff had mentioned.  Get the best form of contact for them (e-mail? phone?) and hopefully they will be responsive to any questions you have after the fact.  I had tons so don't worry!

My FI always asks if they have a generator. Nothing worse than not having heat/ac/lights if the power goes out.

I would have never thought of some of these questions.
