hair and make-up tip

i know this has been discussed multiple times but...what % did you or are you planning on tipping the hair and make-up people...I know the if they own the business rule, and both of them are the owners but I really would feel bad not tipping them something...

I have been wondering the same thing, if they own their businesses what percent? And whether you base the % on what they charge you the day of, or the day of plus the trial (if you don't tip at the trial)? Hopefully someone will have some advice!

I know, I have been wondering the same thing...both of mine are owners too, but I feel like they are still going to deserve a tip.  I was thinking maybe 10%, which isn't a ton, but still a little something extra.

10 percent sounds good...at least that would cover more than their gas to get to my house...i am paying almost 300 for both hair and make-up and I am paying for 2 of my girls too....things add up but I dont want to seem cheap!

I agree.  I was going to say anywhere between 10-15% would be very generous and more than appreciated.

If 10-15% is sufficient, would you suggest that based on the day of costs, or the total costs including trials?

I would say just day of costs.  I don't think you would need to include the trial in that.  If you wanted in throw in an extra $5 or something along those lines, that could possibly work, but I don't believe that you would need to include the cost of the trial in the 10-15%.

Mine charged a fee to come to the hotel, the service itself was pretty expensive, and she took much more time that she promised me (and I arrived late to the church because of it), so I didn't feel bad not tipping.

Oh, and she owned her own business.

So if they don't own the business do you tip 15 to 20 percent?

Personally - I would tip them regardless of the fact that they own the business.  The percentage/amount is totally up to you and your personal satisfaction with everything.
