Herrington on the Bay

Hello ladies, I am wondering if anyone has had their wedding at this venue or were thinking of having their wedding here. What did you like/not like about it?

Positives - there is places to stay right there.  They are very good to deal with. Negatives - long ride back there I thought.  And this may be a tad nit picky but I saw someone's pictures from there and there was bird poop all over the place, it turned me off.

We attended a wedding there. The food was standard. Not overly impressive, but not bad. Dinner was served upstairs and then dancing and cocktails were in the lower level. It seemed a bit cramped, but we had an excellent time regardless. The drive is kinda far unless you have alot of guests that live in that general area.

I have some sample proposals and menus if you would like and pictures I took when i toured it.email me at shoffmann at scandh dot comI thought it was a beautiful place and loved the ceremony area. I was going to go with the tented ballroom (i didnt like the 2 floor set up of the other space). I ended up not going with it because food/rental was about my entire budget and the distance.

I got married there in Oct. 2008 and everything was amazing. People still compliment us on the food and the view. There are pics in my bio too. Pssjadey and Joesgal got married there as well. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

We looked at this venue and the staff seemed very friendly. The major turn-off for us was that there is no handicapped access to the top floor. They suggested we could "carry the handicapped guests upstairs for dinner" and needless to say that wasn't going to work.

We will be getting married there on June 12, 2011!!! So excited we actually chose this venue because it made me cry thinking of saying my vows there with My Beloved. we chose the Herring Bay Bridal Garden and the Herring Bay East Pavillion. We didn't need a tented ballroom and still wanted to have it outside. It was about 1/4 the cost to rent! We don't mind the drive. It's about an hour but scenic and calming unless you are stuck behind a person driving under the speed limit. My family also loves it because they are from St. Thomas and it reminds them of home. PROS: landscaped nicely, inn and guest houses for use, food is sustainable, site is environmentally friendly (in fact, the nation's most eco-sensitive marina), very accomodating and friendly, dedicated staff CONS: if you don't want a beach style reception it's hard to figure our decor... but we will!!! it was a win/win. We will be going for our catering/decor meeting Decemeber 26! They are available the day after christmas since my fiance lives in Chapel Hill, NC and only comes up every now and then.
