We had the most BEAUTIFUL wedding ever- and it really was the best day of our lives IN SPITE of the management at the Oaks. The management was unprofessional and rude and really un-flexible. They did not follow through with planning, they were short and unhelpful when questions were asked and offered no support through the whole process. Everything that we wanted was XTRA $$ and at ridiculous rates. When we got to the Oaks for the weekend, the owner was rude and had made up so many more rules than were stated in our contract. We wanted to have our family and friends gather at the Oaks (which was supposed to be ours for the weekend) on Friday after the rehearsal dinner and the owners told us that NO ONE was allowed on the property unless they were staying at the Oaks. Just crazy. On the wedding night the service and food were wonderful and we had so many compliments on how beautiful everything looked. Mike and I had our own waitress/server/assistant who was with me before I walked down the aisle, through all the pictures and who served us personally the whole reception. I can't for the life of me remember her name but she was WONDERFUL and just kept us always with a drink in our hand and met all our needs. She was so lovely and really helped make my day. When 11pm came around the owner was in the reception room ON THE DOT telling the DJ to stop playing immediately and we were basically CHASED out of the room. AND to make matters worse my Father had brought sparklers for all our guests to light outside by the lake after the reception- someone from the Oaks management- most likely Candy the owner- STOLE our sparklers and told us we were not allowed to do them and she HAD ME IN TEARS ON MY WEDDING NIGHT. They never gave those back. I was so disappointed. For the money we spent we were very DISSATISFIED with the management and service of the OAKS. The place is lovely- MINUS THE OLD SCHOOL ROOMS which were ridiculously expensive for our guests and they were grimy and need major renovating. We still had an amazing day, but would never recommend the Oaks.
