Ceremony/Reception Sites- North Central Ohio, Special Occasions Catering- Upper Sandusky, and WEDDIN

Hi, my fiance and I are currently looking for ceremony and reception locations.  We are from around Mansfield, OH, so the closer to there the better (examples: Mohican, Ashland, Sunbury, even Columbus, etc., etc.)   First, I was looking for advice, as I really wanted an outside wedding. But our options are to hurry and plan a wedding in 2 months, so it can be outside, or wait until December (as I am still in college) and have an inside wedding. Advice??? I don't think an inside wedding would be too bad, as long as it was a really neat place... (I don't want to get married in a church, b/c even though I attend church regularly, I just can't imagine it as anything else... not where I want married)

So any suggestions on North-central Ohio reception and ceremony sites? Additionally, we are hoping to find a site that will allow outside caterers! (since usually the preferred caterers are quite pricey!)

Our budget for the ENTIRE wedding is somewhere between $6000 to $8000.

Has anyone had experience with Special Occasions Catering out of Upper Sandusky???? They seem really reasonably priced and I've read some good reviews!

Thanks in advance for any help!!!!

You might have a hard time pulling together all the vendors for a summer wedding in 2 months.  And your dress will most likely need to be off the rack.

If I were you, I would wait until December.  That is not typical "wedding season" so you might get a better deal on venues.

    good luck!

What about Kingwood Center (Kingwood Garden) in Mansfield?

Check out the Crawford County Conservation League at Bucyrus - i haven't been there in years but they have a pound and woods and a clubhouse. Not sure this is still true but you could bring in your own food/caterer and your own alcohol. Cost was very reasonable.

Also post on the other Ohio boards for help too..... I will say though that if you do a Friday or Sunday wedding for this summer you may find some better deals. You may run into some problems with a December wedding due to holiday parties.

Being able to stay within your budget will definitely be easier if you plan it for December.  However, you would want to start looking now because many places get booked early for company holiday parties.

Also, if you are trying to have a wedding over the summer, you MAY be able to get deals from people who haven't booked up yet.  I just received an email from a hotel in Maryland (I was looking there too since that is where I am from), and they had all sorts of specials if I wanted to get married this summer.  They want to fill up those dates to get paid, anything is better than nothing.

And, as far as budgeting, Fridays and Sundays are a great way, and also a way to likely get a summer date.  I would say that it is possible, my sister got engaged in March and got married that same July (on a Saturday).  It's possible, but you have to focus and work extra hard.

My only half-decent suggestion for a venue space is the Kelton House.   If you did a Friday evening or Sunday wedding, it is $800 to rent it during prime season.  Saturdays are a bit pricer.  It is super gorgeous, it can hold 100 people for a sit down dinner.  You can have your ceremony in the gardens and dinner inside, overlooking the gardens.

Check Quailcrest Farms in Wooster for a Summer wedding - beautiful gardens, barn reception hall, etc. Email me at angela.wish@gmail.com if you would like to see photos.

For Winter weddings, you may have better luck on keeping the price down all around since that is off season for most vendors.
