New to the Board...

Hi there - I just came across this board...I didn't know it was out there!  I'm usually on the DC, MD or July 2011 boards.  Now I've found another one that I can call home!

I'm Sharon and my FI is Mark.  We're getting married July 8, 2011, at the Silver Swan Bayside at Queen Anne Marina, on Kent Island.  It's outdoors on the water, with a "Chesapeake Bay meets the Caribbean" theme. We've been together for 7 years, and engaged since July 2009.  I needed 2 years to plan a wedding, because I'm a bit anal, and didn't want to feel rushed into making snap decisions due to time restrictions.

As of now, we have a WP, the venue (which comes with catering), photography, DJ, and STDs (being finalized with Allison Barnhill). I go on my first dress shopping trip this weekend!  Next weekend we knock out one of the registries.

I just wanted to pop in and say Hi, and I look forward to all the information sharing on this site.

Congrats to you!!  Have you been happy with Silver Swan so far?  Have you had your tasting yet?  Who is doing your flowers?  I've found a florist, but I'm now interviewing two more, closer to the venue.

So far so good, We actually just booked last month. I know at times its seems hard to get ahold of anyone. (but Taylor always gets back to me, I think she is very busy). I just loved it there! We went about 15 locations and they were the best price and you have the whole place to yourself. Which some places I went 2-6 weddings could be going on at a time...NO thanks.

She said we will have our tasting in January. But when we booked a couple was in for their tasting and they said everything was amazing and that they even customized stuff for them since they were vegan (and so in my FMIL).

My florist is Dene' Bruce (410-456-5830)- Flowersby Dene' she is in Bel Air, but will meet with you anywhere. She is amazing!! She is super cheap  and actually teaches floral design at the local high school.. Not to mention she lives on a 40 achre farm and grows wild flowers all summer long. (But she can do whatever you want) (Here is a pic of her's from a purple wedding and a fall wedding) I have way more if you want to see them. I just love her!!

She is local in Bel Air (actual grows flowers on their 40acre farm and she is set up every Saturday in Bel Air at the market) and you can not beat her prices. She ia awesome, she can do what ever you want for 1/2 the prices of a florist.We used "Flowers By Dene" in Bel Air, Maryland. Dene' teaches floral design at a local high school and she owns her own shop. The flowers they do are exquisite and there is no competition for her beautiful arrangements and prices are amazing. She has been a designer for the past 10 years and has won awards for her designs. Amazing young woman!! From Knottie mommaofthebride1958

Congrats! I'm getting married at Silver Swan Bayside on 10.2.11! We booked with Amelia and really love her! They told us they usually do tastings about 3 months out, and i've heard good things about the food from a friend who went to a wedding there this past May.

I am also getting married at Silver Swan on April 21, 2012.  Taylor has been very accomidating when we needed to change our already contracted date ( to an entire year later!).  I can't wait to visit there again-when FI and I met with Taylor, the place was still under renovations.  This venue was definitely the perfect place for us and we are so excited.

What was the price range for this venue. I am looking into Michaels Eighth Avenue to have mine September 24, 2011 but this seems like a nice venue. I was just wondering if it would fit into my budget.

It all depends on the amount of ppl and what you are looking for. (The are booked pretty much all for 2011, My date was actually taken and I just got lucky).

If you call they call tell you if they have your date and send you a sample packet.
