Gramercy Mansion Ceremony and Reception Question

Hi Ladies,

We are considering the Gramercy Masion for our ceremony and reception in October 2010.

Does anyone have any comments or suggestions about the location or the staff?

Has anyone had a midweek event there?

Thanks for your input.

I don't have much help I can offer yet - as my wedding will be there in May of 2011, but I do have tons of information about caterers (you select off of their list) as we finally selected one for there, so if you need anything on that let me know and I can forward some info along.

I have gone on 2 visits there, is there any specific info you are looking for?

Who did you end up going with for caterering?  I am planning a small wedding but am trying to get some flare and excitment in the food without breaking the bank.  Linwood's looks very nice, but I hear that they are expensive.  I just haven't figured out what "expensive" means.   Have you decided on music yet?

I ended up picking Simply Elegant. I have a sample menu with price from Linwoods (and a couple others) for a proposal they did for me. Email me if you would like some sample menus.

I have no booked anything except venue and food.

I am going to look into their recoomendation of Paul Lavin (sp?) as tehy said he is a DJ but also can play the piano that is in the mansion which would be nice for the dinner music.

ask about a generator - I know it's crazy but I went to a wedding there where the power went out...the poor bride had to walk down the aisle in the dark with no music, and the caterer's couldn't warm up the food, and there was no music for the reception...it was still a fun wedding though, i guess you make the best of it.

Sorry to be a downer but it was definitely happened.  I think it was a September wedding if i remember correctly

We has our wedding there in 07, and it was perfect. We had Simply Elegant and the food was great. (I went to Linwoods for a tasting and the lady kept telling me all the things I wanted weren't the right things, so I said forget it.) Our band was Fancy Pants, and they were good too. They sound great and are great to work with. I just wish I were more specific about the type of music I wanted -- slow vs. fast, etc. My family complained there were too many fast dances, not enough slow.

Not sure what other info you're looking for. The people at Gramercy are really nice and good to work with. I didn't have any negative experiences with them. They even moved the couches out of the living room and onto the veranda/porch area to make more dancing room (when I requested it).  All in all it was great.
