We used Alice's Piece of Cake. Even though we didn't even get to eat a piece at our wedding, our guests loved it and some people had several pieces I was told!

We met with Anita Kline, Short North Piece of Cake, and Scrumptious Crumb. Tonight we are meeting with our final cake lady who is enticing icing (thanks sarah as well)

    1) Anita Kline: L.O.V.E: price! Her cake is really good too, and she is very friendly and fun, our cake tasting was like 2 hours long! We just talked and looked at books, she is super sweet, and she is top so far.
    2) Short north piece of cake: I thought this was going to be our choice, but I did not like our sample. After having the other cake, we just did not care for it. And they did not talk too much to us, it was weird.
    3) Scrumptious crumb: yummy cake, I mean they had pumpkin butter cream, amazing! But they charge for everything and that bothered me and they were our highest quote, and we will probably not us them.
    4) Bess Cakery: We got no where with them, just wanted to put a little note in there, my fiance called 2 times and the lady said she was driving and would call back, she never did, she was hard to get a hold of via email as well, so we decided to cut our losses with that.

Tonight we are meeting enticing icing at a coffee shop which i think is a little weird for a cake tasting but we are excited to decide which baker we will be using! :)

We are using the Cake Studio. The cakes are amazinggg but were one of the more expensive options I found.

We're going with the Cake Studio as well. I loved the cake samples that we got and she literally drew a sketch of the cake of my dreams in about 2 minutes.

I think we're going to go with Sauer Cakes. Everything was delicious, and she has so many unique flavors, including a Guinness Chocolate Cake, which I thought was awesome! Plus, she'll do nearly any decorations for her base price ($4/slice) and there's no cake stand rental, delivery fee, or really any other cost... very straight forward and easy! :)

We used Elegant Icings, but she is not based in Cbus even though she will travel. Our wedding cake was moist and delicious and she is super reasonable. It even tasted good a year later...lol

I also interviewed Christina of, well I can't remember the name of her bakery right now. The samples were delicious but she was just so dang expensive. I couldn't justify spending $700 on the cake we wanted when I got one that was just as good for half of that.

I'm glad to hear people had a good experience with the Cake Studio. Our venue comes with a cake from Cake Studio, but I haven't really had a chance to try it or talk to her since my wedding isn't until 2013. =)

Would anyone be willling to share how much they spent on cake?  This is our next big task, and I just want to know what to expect.

We are expecting 200-250 guests.  I don't want anything elaborate.... here is a link to exactly what I want: http://blog.pinkcakebox.com/black-ribbon-wedding-cake-2007-08-03.htm

Our florist is also going to provide some yellow orchids that we can "sprinkle" down the sides of the cake.

Our cake was 3 tier, off-set squares. I think there is a pic in my bio. It was $350 (I don't think that included the fresh flowers, but I can't remember). We didn't have any fancy fillers or flavors, just buttercream icing with Suiss dots. I think it came out to be like $1.50 or $1.75 a slice. It was real cheap. We told her 130 guests (even all those didn't show) and we even had her do a sheet cake (another great option to save $) for only $15. The sheet cake wasn't even touched, our families took it home and we had wedding cake leftover WITH saving the top tier. Similar quotes I got were at least $200 more than that and some were as high as $650. We just couldn't swing it, besides I wanted that extra money to go somewhere else where I would remember/matter.

Bummer about Suisse! That's who we booked with.

We also met with Alice's Piece of Cake and while we really liked Alice, we did not enjoy the samples at all.  There were other details we didn't care for about the experience as well but I don't want to throw them out there.

ETA:  We guesstimated 130 guests at the time of booking and will be spending about $600 once everything's said and done.  That's thanks to a couple rentals and delivery fees and some add ons.

We are using a lady who bakes out of her home but makes DELICIOUS cakes.  The Cake Lady of Circleville (<-link) is very reasonably priced (220 guests, $330) for a 4 tier cake (with additional sheet cakes), in two flavors.  The flavors are almost endless but we chose a white cake (almond) with her home grown/home made strawberry jam filling & butercream icing, and a chocolate cake with espresso filling and buttercream icing.  YUMMMMM.  Then we're doing a groom's cake shaped like a car with pumpkins & medical supplies (all FI's hobbies) in red velvet for $40.  I recommend contacting her.  She's great to work with & so helpful.  Free cake stand "rental".

ETA: I should also mention she delivers to Columbus/Chillicothe/any where close by.
