Menu Tastings - General timetable & Silver Swan info

Ideally, how many months out should your tasting be scheduled with the details of your menu finalized?  4 months? 6 months?

For Silver Swan Brides getting married between now and August: Their kitchen is currently under construction, and tastings cannot be held until March.

I don't know if there's a general rule, but I can tell you what we did.  My venue had a schedule to follow, and we were advised to do our tasting on our before our four-month planning meeting (scheduled four months before the wedding).  We opted to do ours at the four-month mark, and we had to finalize our choices then.
