Silver Swan

Hi all,
We were looking at Silver Swan Bayside on Kent Island. I really fell in love, but didn't know if anyone could give me some feed back about this location. Thank you for your help :)

I've heard good and bad thing about this place, but from my personal experience it was great...then fell all apart. I also talked to the guy who was in charge there, set up an appointment after talking about prices, options, dates ect...dates matched, prices matched, place was beautiful! During our visit I explained he asked how many people, when I came back and said about 125 he was shocked, didn't say anything but acted funny the rest of the time. As we left I asked him to e-mail me an estimate so we can possibly put a deposit down. Well, he sent me back an e-mail, 2 weeks later, saying that he just found out the dates I wanted weren't available, so I sent him more dates, and he offered me Fridays and Sundays, obviously he didn't want a "small" wedding on a saturday night. Id rather him be up front and say there was a minimum or something than beat around the bush. Just irritated me. The more FI and I looked into the location we also found it was sold/forclosed on/new ownership about 4 times in the last 6 years which didn't seem promising to me.
BUT like i said that was my experience. I know some knotties who were married there(thats where I got the idea from) and LOVED it and had a great time! I ended up going with Chespeake Beach Resort and Spa, the people are great, so many things are all included and the price ya can't beat for a waterfront wedding.
    BEST OF LUCK!!

WOW. Im sorry this all happened to you! When were you looking? I think there is a new owner now. It is just a huge leap I guess you have to take and have to have so much trust in them that they will not mess everything up or forget you in the dust!

I got married there in August 2009 and I had the best experience ever. I worked with Dede at Silver Swan and she was so calm and reassuring. What really sold us was the view. When you drive up and you see that beautiful corner of the bay...nothing beats that! The service the day of and the food was absolutely top notch. We looked at a lot of other places and came back to Silver Swan b/c we wanted to give our guests a beautiful experience. Indeed we did. We had a magical sunset, a cruise ship even sailed by during the reception. I couldnt have been happier with the location, the staff, the food and the service. It was excellent!

They were also very flexible with pricing....we told them upfront what we wanted to pay for things and they worked with us. I never felt that they were taking advantage of us.

I absolutely loved getting married there!

Hi. I actually just went to visit Silver Swan this past weekend. A date came available and my fiance and I were really excited. We had worked with the menu and wanted only 100 guests at our wedding. We told the corrdinator that we wanted to maintain our budget and she said she would get back to us. I still havent heard back and now I think they may give our date away. We had already called right after our visit to tell her we love silver swan and dont give our date away. I am really gettting worried!!! Any suggestions.....????

Keep after her(Taylor the Mang). (Do you have her personal cell # ? If not PM me and I will send it to you)

We booked for May of next year.  And had some problems when we were trying to send the down payment in, I think they need more help in that office honestly IMO.

For anyone who has a wedding booked at Silver Swan for 2011 -- you need to know that just about everyone who you worked with - is now gone.  Taylor, the offiice manager, the General Manager and most importantly, the Chef.

Be sure to request a new tasting, once they hire another chef.  Amelia is the only sales person left there, and the new office manager (Joanne) has no experience in wedding or event planning.  Be sure to stay on top of things so the details of your special day, won't fall through the cracks.  Good Luck!
