Name change process in KY

So I know in some states you need to go to the DMV before going to the Social Security office. We currently live in CA but we're moving to KY 2 weeks after the wedding so I'm not 100% sure how the name change process works there.

Idk someone on the Vegas board (where we're getting married) said that they put their maiden name on their wedding license/certificate and the social security office told her she needed to go to the DMV first but I think she lived in GA.

In my county, you go to the social security office first, wait 24hrs, go back the next day and get a receipt then go to the dmv. The DMV here can't do anything until you have proof that your name has changed.

I got married in KY, and did not sign the marriage license at the wedding. We signed some paperwork when applying for it, and I used my maiden name then.
