David's - eh.  Lex is better than Louisville.

There's a bridal shop in Patchen Villiage. . . Ruth's?  I can't remember the name.  But, it's been there ages and gets good reviews.

A reasonably new shop that seems to be popular with my real life friends is Twirl.  I'm not sure where it's located, as I don't live in the area anymore, but I've heard good things about it.

If you want to drive to Louisville, I got my dress at Rebecca's and loved the shop.  They have a nice range of prices and the sales consultants are really helpful and nice.

I went to Ruths once and I hated the service. I went with one of my friends (who is also getting married 2 wks before me) and the consultant helped her and shoved me off like I was nobody. So their out of the question unless the have THE dress. Anyways I was thinking of going up to Lville or Cinci to go to Bridal warehouse...whatcha think??

Waste of time.  Bridal Warehouse is in Louisville and E-town (if there's one in Cincy it's a different business).  It sucks.  Service is terrible, the store is dirty, dress selection isn't that great, and the ones I did see/try weren't that well made.

I loved Rebecca's in Louisville.  Much better choice than Bridal Warehouse.

I got my dress at the Wedding Center and I really liked it.  They were really helpful and everybody was so nice.

I thought about going to Bridal Warehouse, but I'm glad I didn't now. :)

    That's in Lexington, btw.

I've heard good things about Wedding Wonderland.  My friend got married this month, and she purchased her dress there and it was gorgeous, and they were more than happy to fit her in the same day for an appointment.

I have looked some at David's Bridal. The gowns they have there are fairly nice, but I felt very pushed by the consultants there.

If you go to David's in Louisville, see if Barbara is still there.  She was my consultant 3 years ago and was AMAZING.

I only found 4 dress places in Lexington itself.

Ruths-I found the service to be good.  I have only gone in during non-peak times though, so i'm not sure how it would be otherwise.  The dresses seemed to be higher end, although they did have a selection of sales dresses that were better priced.

David's Bridal- I feared going into this place due to the reputation it has.  At first, everyone was really attentive. (I went in the middle of the week, in the middle of the  day.)  After trying on a bunch of dresses that I didn't like I think they got frustrated with me and just let me go through and pick out what I wanted to try on.  I probably tried on 20 dresses (not recommended) since I knew the next time I could return would be during a busy time.  I think they budget about an hour per person because after that they became less attentive even though I was the only customer in the store.  When another bride entered, they focused all the attention on her (even though there were at least 6 people on the floor and only 2 of us trying on dresses.)  It does have a good selection, but I didn't feel they were working very well with me.  I also had the feeling they were trying to get as much $$ as possible (try on this sash, why don't we give you a corset/shoes/etc to try on with the dress  Your groomsmen can get coordinating colors, etc. etc.)  And if you want a color sample of something, expect to pay.  Maybe that is standard but if you're spending that much money, I think they can give you a 1 inch square of fabric for free!

The dresses here definitely ranged in price $99-$1000+ but even the expensive dresses didn't seem to be the same quality as comparable prices at other stores.

Wedding Wonderland- The person helping me was nice and helpful.  However, they would NOT allow me to take pictures.  I live far from family and good friends and am not about to spend that much money on something that I can't see in a photo and think about or send to people for opinions.  It's the only store that I went to that had this policy and they will not get my business. I must say there were dresses I tried on in other stores that I really liked but when I saw the picture of myself, I didn't like as much, so to me this was important.  Prices if I remember correctly were mid-upper range ($500-$1000 with some sale dresses cheaper)

Wedding Center--I went in to this place and told them what I thought I was looking for. instead of pointing me to which dresses might match that, they just had me walk around and pick out dresses to try on.  I only found 2 and didn't like either of them.  It wasn't until after that when I was ready to leave that the sales person then started being helpful.  Once she started she was nice and was in fact helpful, but I didn't find a dress I liked here.  Also I found most of the dresses to be small (size 6) although a few were larger.  Most of the other stores I think had more of a variety of sizes.  Prices were probably same as Wedding Wonderland.

I think I may be close to choosing a dress, but may still try Rebecca's in Louisville.

I should also say that when I started looking, I wasn't really sure what I wanted.  I was expecting consultants to hear what I liked/didn't like about a dress and then find the "perfect" dress for me based on what you hear sometimes here, sometimes in the stores, and sometmes just around.  However, this didn't really happen at any of the places.  They would bring me more gowns, but I don't think any of them found "the perfect dress" in doing that or had one in mind for me...so maybe that's just a myth.

Went to Rebecca's in Louisville and it was rather small, they had good designers there but not a great selection. There is a shop in Richmond KY called formal affair and they have dresses that range from 99 to 2000+, great service, great selection and very attentive. Definitely getting my dress there :) Oh and my dress at rebecca's was going to be $400 more expensive before alterations.
