Hi everyone! I just wanted to review the vendors from my April wedding reception in Lexington, in case that's helpful for anyone who is newly engaged and wondering where to start. Overall, I had an extremely positive experience with all of our vendors and would whole-heartedly recommend them!
Reception Venue – Andover Golf and Country Club: Communicating with them was very easy and pricing was laid out exactly. They do not really have a good assortment of centerpieces, but they did let me use any that they did have for free. I brought my own and then did a few things at the end with some of theirs. Hannah was very easy to work with and was glad to do anything last minute for me. She also allowed us to make adjustments to meals even a few hours before the reception, which was nice! The space is beautiful and there was plenty of room for our 130 or so guests. There was an amazing area to get ready in that had supplies for any bride and bridesmaids getting ready! Price: $1000. This includes wedding ceremony outside on the golf course. Does not include: extra chairs (they had about 75, we needed more and then had to rent 130 because the chairs we rented did not match the chairs they had), extra tables, and dance floor.
Catering – Andover Golf and Country Club: The venue did require you to use their catering services, however, they were priced extremely well and food was amazing. At the end of the night, when they had noticed we hardly touched our food, they ordered us to go dinners and packed them for us! So sweet! We also were allowed to do a taste testing for free with their entire menu. We didn’t have to worry about charges for plates, forks, anything extra because it was all included in their meal prices! Plates were around $20 and included salad, drinks, bread, and choices of meals. We did not have to pay extra like some places for servers or bartenders. It was all included in the price of the food (and they are used to having banquets, weddings, parties, etc.) Bartenders were amazing and prices were not bad! We had a completely open bar for 130 people (some heavy drinkers) for less than $2000 and we had some leftover alcohol we were allowed to keep!!!
Photography – J Kathryn Photography: Absolutely wonderful to work with! She needed hardly any direction and pictures always turn out beautiful with her! I was so particular about taking pictures from below (I swear it brings out my double chin) and she was very flexible with that type of shot taking. Their pricing was very affordable – I think it’s because she is out of Frankfort; if she were primarily out of Lexington, I know she would have to be more expensive because her pictures are of better quality than many photographers charging double her price! Joy was really thorough and got all the shots we requested as well as some really great candid shots.
Photo booth – Jenna Blue Photography: I could go on and on about how amazing the photo booth was and what a hit it was with our guests! Jenna and her husband brought so many different props and had the pictures online in less than 24 hours. My guests were begging for them! She communicated very well and was even willing to get more props if we had a different theme! Price $500. Well worth it and we used the pictures as favors to guests because she printed out copies for them!
DJ – Zach, Digital859: Zach is amazing and knows so much about sound, equipment, lighting, and music in general. He really cared about making the reception fun and had more than enough music, as well as the ability to get more, as people requested! He was very professional, laying out prices and lighting options. We had a sound issue with the reception place projector (for the slideshow) and Zach literally was able to fix it with some sort of wireless equipment he had thought to pack! Also, he doesn't try to steal the show by being overly cheesy.
Cake – BabyCakes Cupcakes: Tricia was so amazing to work with! We did a cupcake wedding cake because we wanted something unique and beautiful, which is exactly what we received. She allowed us to use as many different flavors as we wanted which meant we had five amazing options for our guests. She worked great with our vision and used extra flowers to decorate so that it kept with the theme of the night! She also made a top cake tier (mini cake) for us so that we could still, despite being unique, have a top layer to freeze for our one year anniversary! We had 130 premium cupcakes plus a mini cake designed by her for less than $350. This also included special designed cupcake wrappers to make it look even better!
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about any of the vendors! Best of luck with wedding planning!
