Affordable Photographer... A Myth???

I really want to have great pictures of our wedding that look vintage but I can't find a single photographer that doesn't charge you over 1,000. We are on a pretty small budget so if you ladies have come across a cheap but talented photographer please let me know!!! Thanks ladies!!!

If you're looking for something like that you may want to try Craigslist or even check out some local collages and see if there are students that will shoot your wedding for cheap. Our photographer is a close friend who happens to have a photography business so we got really lucky I think.

Our photographer is under $1000. Matthews Wedding Photography. www.matthewsphoto.net They are a husband/wife team that we are thrilled to have found. They were recommended on this board. Good Luck!

Matthews was what I was going to recommend. I agree an inexpensive photographer is hard to find. Mine is the 2nd most expensive thing we are paying for, I am going back and forth on whether it was a good idea. But he is a friend from my hometown and does an amazing job.

But Matthews is highly recommended on here and I spoke to him in the beginning and if I wouldnt have went with my friend I probably would have chosen him.

I met with Picture Perfect Portraits a little while ago.  They haven't been doing it for long but have both photography and video in your price range.

I'm using Minister Images. Katie Minister is the owner. If you talk to her personally, she might be able to work within your budget.

I would advise you to go with a photographer who is trying to get their name out there... someone who has a great eye but hasn't been doing it very long.

Felecia is amazing. She takes beautiful pictures AND she's a sweetheart She did fiance's and my engagement shoot and we had a BLAST!  Plus, she quoted us at $450 to do our wedding... we paid her $50 for the engagement shoot that she said would count towards the $450 if we hired her for the wedding.

If you do go with an up-and-coming photographer, please make sure they have the proper equipment to shoot weddings. It takes way more than a camera and lens to shoot an entire wedding. You could be disappointed with the results if they don't. But, if nobody gave me a chance, I wouldn't be where I am today. So, I guess, just make sure that you trust the person you pick and can have faith that they can capture everything in the way you want. Good luck.

It's not a myth! We were on a SUPER tight budget for our whole wedding, and found an upcoming photographer on craigslist - we did go through a lot of bad ones though first so it takes some work to make sure you get someone affordable AND dependable/ good.

Try Picture Perfect Portraits (they have a facebook page) - they take awesome pics and definitely cheaper than just about anybody around.  Also here's their website: http://picperfectportraits.com/

I am a photographer and I too love the vintage look.  I have not done a wedding in the past but I am looking to grow my portfolio and therefore shooting at a very reducted rate to get the business.  You can check out my portfolio at www.photography.sarahstemen.com I also am throwing in an engagement shoot for free to get to know the potential brides I could be shooting.  It is a try before you buy, but also it ensures we are comfortable with each other and you learn to pose.  In anycase, I am quoting $700 for weddings to get business and I am asking for a $200 dollar deposit which will be used as a credit towards prints.

Sometimes it surprises me how brides with limited budget feel like they can't get a photographer.  There are alot of us out there just looking to make the break into wedding, but honestly it is so hard to get started - we are just looking for someone to take a chance on us...calculated chance as the photography skills are pretty transferable.
