Does anyone think that I am crazy for picking the Saturday before Christmas?  I know tons of brides that are getting married on the 11th (reception location was already taken and I am not parting with it) or NYE.  If I had to change it I think I would choose NYE.  I am just worried about it being so close to the holidays.

Actually I think this can be more convenient if you have a lot of out of town guests that could come in for the holidays.  And/or, most churches and other places have decorated for the holidays, so you can save $ there also!  Congratulations.  I always liked the idea of a NYE wedding.  You may lose a few guests, but not the important ones!

I think either is a great date.  I am actually getting married this December on the 30th, which is a Wednesday, but with Christmas and New Year's on Fridays this date seemed to work the best.  My family from out of town will already be here for the holidays and people seem really excited about my date.  So far, I haven't had alot of people say that can't come.

Hmm having something midweek between Christmas and NYE is an idea.  Around how many people are you inviting?  I know most people have time off during that week.

I don't think it's a bad idea at all.  It saves people having to commute to you twice with the economy the way that it is.  You might end up getting fewer gifts, but it isn't really about the gifts anyway.  The only issue I personally would have with it is that I work in retail.  People that work in those kinds of environments aren't getting time off that week, period.  Especially the Saturday before.  As long as you don't have alot of guests in that kind of situation, I think it's a great idea.  :-)

My daughter had a NYE wedding and people said it was the best night ever.  Almost everyone made it and we had a wonderful time!
