Non-church ceremony location? Preferably St. Charles County?

Hey ladies! I'm having some trouble. I am getting married on October 17, 2010, and I have the reception venue all figured out and booked (the Foundry Art Centre on the riverfront). Problem is, I don't know where to have the ceremony! We'd like to get married indoors so we wouldn't have to worry about the weather. I love the Conservatory, but it only holds around 100 people and we are expecting around 250 guests. Does anyone have a suggestion for a nice, big, elegant, non-church ceremony location? We're trying to keep from making his relatives (who are not from around here) drive too far into the city, but I'm open to suggestions. Thanks girls!

How about the Jewel Box in Forest Park.  It will seat 250.

The Jewel Box would be a bit of a drive for guests.  Have you looked into having your ceremony where your reception is?

Aprilrose, thanks for the Jewel Box suggestion--I didn't realize it held so many. It's a bit further away than I was hoping to go, though.KdgTeacher, I have looked into that, but I just don't think the venue is set up that well for a ceremony--I'd rather do it somewhere else if I could. Hrmm....still looking...

I was considering the Conservatory as well, but decided to go with the Jewel Box.  The only negative about the Jewel Box is the hour and a half time block, unless you have the last time slot.  You may want to check into the St. Charles Convention Center.  They have many beautiful ballrooms that can be set up for a ceremony.  However, I do not know what the rates are.  Best of Luck and enjoy the planning process!  :o) Melissa & Doug  7+3=10 (our wedding date)

I agree. I would look into having the ceremony at the Foundry Art Center.  You could have the ceremony in one of the side galleries - which they might be able to open up to the main area in the center. Don't quote me on that, but it is worth looking into.

Great reception site!  We just had ours at the Foundry Art Centre on 10/2/09.  Everyone loved the venue!

As far as the ceremony, we used the newer wedding chapel in New Town (St. Charles).  It's not a church.  You're able to bring in your own officiant, which we did.  It is so pretty and very close to the Foundry.
