what's a good budget for flowers?

I have 9 bridesmaids and 9 groomsman, I was wondering what would be a good budget for my bouquet, the BM's bouquets and the boutonnieres for the guys.  I also want six centerpieces for my reception.  Could you help and also list names of florists!

Thanks!

Re: what's a good budget for flowers?

  • It really depends on how important flowers are to you.  They were not a priority for me so I tried to minimize there.  I think my BM bouquet were $40ish and the boutonnieres were $12....but of course you could spend much more than that.  The Knot budgeter application gives you a general guideline on how much you should spend based on your overall budget.

  • I agree with Jen...it depends how important they are to you. I am not a fan of flowers as it is and have allergies so I am using more candles instead. I am looking at alternative boutonnieres with ribbons/crystal sticks and I am planning to have the BM's carry single calla lillies rather than full bouquets. I am using silk flowers for the centerpieces. I would be surprised if I spend more than $100 total on flowers. We are on a tight budget and flowers were a GREAT place for me to cut $$. Good Luck :)
  • My budget is $500 and I am getting a ton from Flowers on High

  • I think it really just depends. I am using Kelly Karsten and her prices are really good. A lot people DIY and do Flowerman to save some money.

We have 5 Bridesmaids, my bouquet, 5 groomsmen, 1 groom, 2 dads, 2 grandpas, and flowers for our moms and grandmas and 13 tables and church flowers i believe and we were about $1,000 including tax, set up, and delivery.
  • thank you all for these great insights! : ) i'm thinking around 600 for flowers, so I wanted to see what was out there for this price to see if I need to cut costs elsewhere.  Flowers are a must at my wedding, it screams wedding to me, well besides the DRESS and the CAKE lol!

Like anything else there are always some options that are higher quality than others! But there are plenty of very nice silk flower vendors if you do your research! My two favorite flowers are calla lillies and orchids...not even a remote possibility for a budget bride if I were using real flowers! :) Also, I am doing everything myself....real flowers wouldn't keep very long and I am doing a lot in advance so I know the silk flowers won't die! If flowers are important to you, just cut somewhere else in your budget! My dress is going to end up taking up about 20% of my entire budget....but it was very important to me that I have the right dress so I just made cuts elsewhere!
  • I used Kelly as well and for 3 BMs, bridal bouquet, 9 bouts, 3 corsages, flower girl pomander, 6 tables of submerged orchids with floating candles, rose petals and tips on 6 tables plus cake table head table and place card table for $550.

  • I emailed lots of florist and I just have not found one that the price is completely right, we met with kelly karstan, flowers on high, flowerman, flower on springtree lane and madison house designs. i really don't want to spend like 600-1000 dollars of flowers!
  • Just to throw out another name....I also got a really good quote from Designs by Jerry.  PM if you want his contact info.  I think I still have it somewhere.

  • We're using VVerdesign and it's $1600 BUT that's for 20-25 centerpeices, my bouquet, 5 BM bouquets, 10 bouts, 3 moms coursages, 20 arrangements to attach to the chairs lining the aisles, an archway thingy made out of trees (I swear it's pretty), a hairpeice for me, and I know I'm missing some stuff.

  • Another name to consider is Eva at Ecoflora. (on High St. in Clintonville) I am having a pretty large bridal party, 6 gals & 6 guys, plus 2 Moms, one Dad, and one Granmother, plus one favorite aunt. She gave me a quote around $500 that also included some bigger arrangements by the altar and centerpieces for I think 10 tables. That didn't include three of the people list above though! (I really can't complain about having so many amazing friends and family members, though, even if they do break the bank!)

  • Wedding flowers by eleana has a $500 package deal for flowers. It included my bouquet, 5 bridesmaids, groom bout, 5 groomsmen bouts, 2 mother flowers, 2 fathers flowers, my toss, and flowers for the flowers girl.

try wedding flowers by eleana... she is in west jefferson
  • This might be fun to do but if you want to put your own flowers together with your girls, you can buy bulk boxes from Costco. You could add additional details from the craft store and wrap them in satin ribbon (or whatever you like). I'm ordering a few boxes for my reception to make simple center pieces.
