Vendor Reviews - DJ, Venue, Cake, Flowers

Hey ladies! I'm not on here often but this board landed me many of my vendors early on in planning and I heavily relied on other brides reviews. So, for your benefit, here are mine from my wedding this past weekend!

DJ: Platinum Music Productions – A+. Justin Markle was our DJ, and he also owns Platinum Music Productions. He was extremely professional, well-dressed and I got many compliments about his music selections. I was busy running around from guest to guest and only got to enjoy a few songs on the dance floor but he did an excellent job honoring my requests as well as going along with the energy level of the guests. Very easy to work with, everything went off without a hitch! Plus, his price was well under some of the other DJs I looked into. Definitely recommend him!

Reception venue: La Scala Italian Bistro – A++! I cannot say enough about how amazing this venue was. From the minute I walked in I was in love with the décor in the Venetian room, but what really made the reception so great was the ease I felt with the staff. The team at La Scala (Cathy and Tina mostly) took care of EVERYTHING, and I mean EVERYTHING from arranging a menu tasting (food is amazing in and of itself), to ordering the linens, to taking care of set up for the reception, listening to my description of every detail and helping me develop a plan of how to arrange the room. Guests raved about the food, which was served family style so we avoided both the chaos of tracking meal choices as well as the frustration of waiting in line for a buffet. Plus, guests could eat as much as they wanted of each and all of the dishes on the menu. Everyone had a fabulous time. Did I mention the chandelier? Gorgeous! Can’t wait to get my pictures back! Also, La Scala is BY FAR the best value we found when it came to hosting our reception. The fact that you essentially have a wedding coordinator included at no charge and you don’t pay to use the room made it completely affordable to have a glamorous wedding!Cake: Bess Daniels of Bess Cakery – A. Bess was extremely flexible and accommodating, and importantly, she was affordable. You can choose any of her amazing flavors and fillings for the same flat price, and even have as many flavors as tiers in your cake. She was so easy to work with, listened to all my suggestions and executed perfectly. Everyone loved the cake, especially my groom and MOH, and she even throws in a coupon for a freshly baked cake or cupcakes for your first anniversary!

Flowers: Lynette Higginbotham of MadisonHouse Designs A-  Lynette was very easy to work with and the most affordable quote I could find. The flowers came on time the day of and were beautiful! The only thing I will say is that the flowers were kind of yellow-tinted (she had ordered all white flowers) and she didn’t use all the flowers the exact way she had planned out in my quote. That said, they still turned out lovely and fit my vision for the day very well.

  • I am using Bess as well! Love her!
  • 33entertainment, Mark Hall- I had my wedding last month and I felt I needed to give a little shout out to my dj.  His name is Mark Hall and I already had a DJ booked for my wedding when I heard him perform at my cousins wedding in June.  He was GREAT and I asked him how much he charged for a 6 hour reception and he quoted me at $500!!!!  My current DJ at the time was charging me over $800, so I dropped him and hired Mark the next day.  Even with losing my $100 deposit to the other DJ, I still saved like $200!!!  He did an amazing job mixing the music up throughout the night.  He gave announcements at the proper times and was able to keep the reception going at a perfect pace.  Trust me, he is the best DJ in the area and I'm not sure anyone is cheaper.  Plus, he's a super nice guy.  He propbably wanted to kill me with all the changes I made to the song lists:)
