Squires, Tapawingo, Genesis, Hilton, Zoo?

Has anyone worked with or attended a reception at any of these venues?  I would appreciate any advice and/or opinions, positive or negative.  Thanks, ladies!

My friend had her reception at Squires a couple of years ago.  The food was superb and so was the service.  Her wedding was pretty small, but she still filled up the place.  They only complaint was the sound system, if you sat in the balcony you were unable to hear anything (speeches, toasts, music).  I think it's swanky little place and liked it a lot.

Genesis is not my favorite.  I've been to a few weddings there and I guess it's your typical reception hall.  The food is alright and I don't know if you get to hire your own DJ or not, but at the last wedding the DJ they had SUCKED.  The food is blah and the staff isn't all that great.  For example, shlubbing all the linens that need to be washed across the dance floor...not cool, man, not cool.

My sister had her wedding at the zoo, in the cafe, and it was gorgeous.  It is hard to visualize because of how it looks in the day time, but it was very elegant. I was also really nice to have the patio for the cocktail hour, plus its covered. I believe then, it was only 1500 to reserve the room.  And also there was no tax, because its a non for profit venue.  The food was very good as well.  I would set up a meeting and look at some of there sample albums of events done there. I believe that we worked with a man name Jason for all of the planning.

I looked at squires for mine, they are affordable, but were to small for all our guests. Plus I wanted a place for ceremony and reception.

The Hilton was already booked on my day, but they were so nice when we talked.

Just had our reception at the Lakeside Cafe at the Zoo on 5/15. It was wonderful! Jason was our event planner...really good at responding to questions/making sure everything was taken care of. Lots of compliments on food and overall atmosphere. Wedding coordinators there that night were super great! Cake is included from Sugaree (very good). Lots of compliments overall from the reception...I'd definitely recommend!!!

I am having my ceremony and reception at SqWires.  Bethany has been wonderful to work with...I highly recommend it.

We also looked into the Hilton (both downtown and at the ballpark), but SqWires had a more fitting venue for the vibe we're going for.  We did book a block of rooms at the Hilton Downtown for our guests and will probably do our rehearsal there as well.
