Driving myself crazy over venues!

I cannot wait until we choose a venue for our ceremony and reception, because I am driving myself CRAZY looking at them online. I feel like it is practically taking over my life! My parents have very generously offered to pay for the hall and food, but I don't want them to spend too much so I'm trying to find places that are fairly reasonable priced. FI's family is coming from the Toledo area, mine are mostly downriver. I also want something that isn't going to clash with our color scheme, which is a deep blue with pink.

The color scheme is making it tough because a lot of places I've seen pictures of really look like they would clash. Seems burgundy and gold are pretty popular reception hall colors in this area, but FI really wants blue since it's both of our favorite color, and I have my heart set on pink gerbera daisies. I didn't realize it would be so hard to find a place wth neutral colors!

Going to tour some venues this week and hoping we find the one! So far I'm really liking Stone Creek Banquet Hall in Flat Rock, Weber's Inn in Ann Arbor (worried it might be a bit pricy though), Club Venetian in Madison Heights, Silver Shores in Wyandotte, and Stone Ridge Golf Club in Bowling Green. Any other suggestions? 100-150 guests, and I'm hoping to keep it at about a max of $40pp.

Hi and welcome! Picking a venue can be very daunting but it's definitely one of the most important vendors so it's worth the time and effort to get the right place for your wedding.

I used to live Downriver so I know of some venues in the area. Not sure what all you've checked out yet but here are a few popular ones down in that area besides what you've mentioned:

    Arnaldo's - Riverview

    The Grecian Center - Southgate

    Crystal Gardens - Southgate

Orlando Familia Banquet Center - Riverview

Good luck in your decision. Try not to stress out too much!!

I second Arnaldo's. I visited and they are very reasonable (33pp on a sat). The main color in the ballroom is also BLUE.

I'm having my reception at Weber's. It actually was one of the less expensive places in Ann Arbor. Lots of other places had cheaper prices, but they nickel and dimed you so much you end up spending far more! Pretty much everything is included in Weber's packages, but will cost more than $40 pp for everything (cake, dinner, alcohol, etc.)

Thanks for the replies, everyone! We finally got to visit a few venues this week, and haven't made a final decision yet, but it is probably going to be the Stone Creek Banquet Hall in Flat Rock. I might visit a couple more venues before I'll be sure though. I still haven't seen Arnaldo's or Silver Shores...but I'm hesitating a bit on location there, because some family members seem to think Flat Rock is a bit too far away (to me it's not, I drive to Taylor every day for work though, so that probably skews my perception a bit), so I'm not sure I want to go any further north than that. =(

I'd be 100% sure about Flat Rock if it weren't for the minimum numbers of guests. I really want to keep it close to 100 people, but that means I would have to have it on a Sunday, which I realize is inconvenience for many guests since they have to work the next day.

Does anyone know if Silver Shores and/or Arnaldos have a minimum nuber of people for Saturday nights?

If I remember correctly, Silver Shores had a minimum of over 200 on a Saturday. I want to say 220. I ended up going with Weber's Inn- I'll be getting married there next fall :)

Tv's Grand in Trenton has a really cute atmosphere and a fun wrap around balcony that can be decorated with some glowing chandeliers if it's warm out when you're married.  It's on West Jefferson close to where West Road dead ends if you want to maybe take a look.
