Anyone go to a chiropracter?

FI is currently going to one and they are really "new age" and very weird.  They want to set up a healing plan and FI has to put money down up front to pay for it.  Very sketchy if you ask me.

Can anyone recommend a more normal chiropracter in the Royal Oak/Southfield area?

Thanks in advance!

Well, he's not in the Royal Oak area but my cousin's husband is a chiropractor. His practice is in Lincoln Park. He's not 'new age' or weird lol, just plain old chiropractic medicine.  :)  I know it's not in your area but let me know if you want his info.

I went to one right on Southfield Rd and I-696.  I think it is called Health Quest.  I was going because I had 3 buldging disks in my lower back.  I felt better after going there and they were very nice.

    Here is their Info

Great.  This is odd question but were they normal or were they into new age stuff?  Thanks Colleen!

The guy FI went to on Friday was all about not using prescription drugs and you can cure cancer through chiropractic care, etc.  FI just needs his neck/back adjusted in an effort to help some pain--not cure cancer.

My chiro is like that.  It pisses me off on a daily basis, but she's good at adjusting me.  She gave me some crap the other day about how over the counter meds and prescriptions are "bad."  I just looked at her and said: "Oh really?  And what would you have proposed I did when I had a raging staph infection in my arm?  Come and see you so you could "adjust" it away?"  She was quiet for a while and then said, "Well there are *some* times where you have to take medicine."  She hasn't pulled the hippie bullshyt with me since.

It seriously was so sketchy.  He went on Friday and had some xrays taken which was completely fine.  He had a follow up appointment this morning and they said he had huge issue with one of his vertebrae but he needs to come back TOMORROW for a "healing meeting" and be prepared to bring essentially a downpayment for his treatment plan.  Oh and I am encouraged to come because healing is a family issue.  We then will all discuss the best treatment plan together.

It was a pain in the butt just to get FI to GO to the chiropracter (he's very anti this kind of stuff) so this is just not working for him.  He's trying to keep an open mind but the current guy is not helping the situation.

I totally know what you're talking about.  I thought it all was really weird.  I wanted to laugh out loud when they were telling me that chiro cures cancer, etc etc and that everyone could bring their infants in for an adjustment because the birthing process is "traumatic."  Yeah, um, okay.

But, my mom goes there and highly recommended them because they got rid of neck pain she's had for over 40 years.  So, I go and just ignore the b.s. they spout sometimes.  But, my staph infection comment seems to have stopped it so far :)

I go to Dr Mike Panoessa (sp?) he's on 11 mile just west of Main Street in Royal Oak.  I think the practice is called Progressive Chiropratic.  No new age stuff.  great adjustments.  He will suggest amounts to come in that he thinks will help but doesn't force it on you.
