Tips? Percentage?

We're one week away and trying to total up all the money we'll need the day of!  I've asked some friends and got varying opinions, so thought I'd reach out to some of you ladies Smile

Who did you tip and what percentage?

Thanks!

Re: Tips? Percentage?

  • Generally, you do not need to tip vendors that own the business themselves.  So, for us, we didn't end up tipping the majority of our vendors, because they were almost all the owners.  Hopefully someone else will chime in with a percentage, because I have no clue!
  • Ditto Abbey.  Our photographer, DOC, DJ, and cake lady all owned their own businesses so we didn't tip.

Our reception venue had a mandatory 18% gratuitity that was added in.  I tipped my hair and make up people an extra $20 (I paid both of them directly but they did some last minute adjustments which helped a lot.)  I tipped our bus driver $40 since he was awesome.
  • I pretty much tipped $50 per person.  And while I believe that if they own their own company you don't have to tip them, I'm still did.  I think it's a nice gesture for someone who was at your wedding for 12 hours and spent most of the day with you.  At least that's how I felt about our photographers, videographer and dj.  I also had a photobooth which had 2 people running that.  They each got $50 too.  But it's really whatever you feel.
