Flowers...

Has only Anyone bought bulk flowers online? I'm planning on buying from Costco and going to eastern market the day of the wedding but not sure if Ill have time. Flowers seem like such a waste of money but they have such a big impact on the tone of the wedding. Am I the only bride that feels this way? ....ps...Our plan was to go to eastern market anyway as we go almost every Saturday.

Re: Flowers...

  • Oh forgot the question... Any recommendation for online bulk flower shops?!
  • Lynx, it's startling to look like you are doing the things I did, LOL.

I ordered in 2 different ways from Costco: I ordered online for delivery to my home the 20 piece white rose wedding package for $399. These were the bouquets, bouts, corsages. They were really lovely, but if you want something other than white roses, they have multiple types of packages. So does Sam's Club, www.californiaflowergrowers.com, and there are others.

Costco will also allow you to switch out any of the centerpieces in the 20 piece order for bouquets if you need more bouquets than the standard order has. This order has to be placed at least 30 days before your wedding.

I also ordered the flowers in bulk for our centerpieces, but did that directly. If you have a Costco membership, go to the customer service desk and ask for the phone number of the floral arranger that does the flowers for the kiosks in their store. I got the number for the one at the Roseville Costco, but they all have someone different. Call her about 3-4 weeks before the wedding and order from her in bulk. It's easiest to order the flowers they have online in bulk, but I got the impression you could also order other flowers. Anyway, I got 80 stems of white asiatic lillies, 96 (8 dozen) white vendella roses, and 2 large bunches of baby's breath for $173. She'll tell you to plan your order for pickup about 3 days before the wedding. You can then meet her there, and she will have your flowers in large black floral buckets. At that time if there are any you are not happy with, you don't have to take them. There was only one bunch of roses we didn't take, and I honestly didn't need all the lillies either, but better safe than sorry. You take these home, give the flower stems a new cut of about an inch, change the water, add the floral food, then put in a cool place (we put ours in the basement). They opened beautifully and I arranged the centerpieces the morning before the wedding, and we took them to the rehearsal that night and left them at the venue.

I felt like I had a secret source, but the Costco arranger told me she does up to 18 weddings a week like this in the summer.

Here are the arrangements I made

Taller centerpieces with lillies & baby's breath (the grasses came with the lillies)

Shorter centerpieces with roses and baby's breath

There's a lot of different info on the floral stuff I ordered (water/jelly beads, floral foam), if you want more info, just send me a PM..........other brides can too, I'll share!

Girl, I wish I had HALF your creativity!  We are paying $1200 for 2 tall cylinders with some purple flowers in them, plus 5 BM bouquets, my bouquet, and the other standard flowers.  Your centerpieces look PHENOMENAL!!!
