  • A nice hall that outside caters allowed we decorate our self if we have. Our date is April 12, 2014
  • We got married at Greenmead in Livonia. It's convenient to I-275 (8 Mile exit). Their banquet hall is an old historic home that holds up to 100 people. They have an historic chapel you can use as well, and lovely grounds with gardens for pictures. For non-Livonia residents, it's about $1300 rental for both, for Livonia residents I think it's about $1000 rental.

If you go here, you can see our wedding pictures which have a lot of the chapel, the grounds, and the banquet hall. http://www.capturedbybrian.com/photos/kevinsuewedding/

They supply tables, chairs and dancefloor for the banquet. You bring in your own food, DJ, decor, linens, plates, utensils, bartender, alcohol. Unless you are having plastic or paper plates and plastic eating utensils and cups, the cost to provide dishes, glasses & eating utensils is roughly $5 per person OR MORE. Plus napkins and table covers.

I will say this, after planning my wedding for over 18 months. I thought it would be easier and cheaper to do it with an outside caterer, bringing in our own alcohol, etc. I especially lthought this because I am a "foodie" and wanted exceptional food. I found doing things this way is not necessarily cheaper. I may have saved up to $5 per person, and it was a lot of work. If you have a specific picture in your mind of what you want, and are drawn to that vision and only that vision, then go for the "bring in your own". If not, for some, it may be easier to simply get the "all inclusive" hall, but continuing to look for one that provides a good experience and appealing looking venue. If you are having less than 100 people, that cost difference is less than $500.

If you want to see the other vendors I arranged, my bio link below has a vendor tab.

If you want to consider an all inclusive hall, I'd recommend the Venetian in Madison Heights. There is also a restaurant in Madison Heights called The Masters, on 13 mile near Dequindre. I think they can hold the amount of people you are both mentioning. There is also The Gazebo in Warren on Mound & 13 Mile. These are not mentioned as much as others around here, but I think they do allow for smaller weddings.
  • Thank you I will look into that
