Let's hear 'em!

I really never do these but my mom has been on my last nerve lately!! She is one of those Momzillas.  She claims I havent planned enough and done enough research for this wedding. I have 9 months still to go and the last 4 months I have been working two jobs. Today I have to go to the library and do endless hours of research on flowers. We went to the florist last month and she wasnt happy with what she heard. So, I need to prepare the florist and myself for this Saturdays meeting. She wants and agenda and everything to run smooth. I am like it is a floral meeting not a board meeting, if you quit thinking this is your wedding we would be good! Oh and also after my Grandma worked so hard to get my shower and her German club and so excited that I was going to have it there. Momzilla decided last night she thinks there is a better deal then what were getting at the german club and I need to research that more again! So with all that..my confession I wish we just would have done the small wedding on a beach or went to Vegas!

Eww, that's the worst. Is this normal behavior for your mom? If she's paying for the wedding, perhaps she's just really concerned about cost. Take a peek at the stickies at the top of the board to get a feel for what other brides have paid for vendors. That'll give you an idea of whether you're in a good range or not -- and maybe save you a trip to the library :-)

My vent is with my church. We are 3 months out and haven't started premarital counseling, nor have they sent me the stuff so I can begin planning the ceremony (readings, songs, etc.) Maybe this is plenty of time (Catholic brides, please give me some support here!), but it's really annoying for my Type A personality. More annoying is that the priest passed us off to the deacon, who was initially quite responsive over e-mail, but who hasn't responded to the last two e-mails I've sent over the last month or so. I'm hoping the whole birth of Jesus thing is just what's keeping him busy, but since the church has operated like this basically from the get go, I'm still annoyed.

Father Todd passed us off to the deacon to. However, we are now thinking we may be having the deacon marry us. The Deacon also said he would send me that booklet but never did. I called him and finally got it last week. Just the book no real explanation or anything. I was planning the first week of February to start hounding them about the counseling. Good Luck and let me know how it goes.

My vent is FI. I wanted to kill him last night. We both have been working a ton lately. I know he works hard so I never really ask him to do much around the house and usually he is really helpful.  He had the entire day off yesterday and did nothing. It was freezing outside and I came home from working a 10 hour day and everything looked the same. I asked him to do a load of laundry, and just assumed he could handle unloading the dishwasher. Nope neither were done. Then I said can you figure something out for dinner at about noon. I get home and he was like oh I never thought about it. So we had to go back out in the freezing cold.

At dinner he says to me it was so nice to have a day and do nothing at all. I said oh really I wouldn't know what those are like. Then he felt bad and apologized a million times for doing nothing. It is just so frustrating.

My Mom is usually like this, she is set on Vivanos and wont go anywhere else. I get that she is helping to pay (his parents and we are too) but it isnt her wedding. She wont be happy until I bring a binder to the appointment. It is more embrassing and I feel bad for the florist last time it was a screaming match. Really dont get why I didnt elope lol! Ps. super glad I have somewhere to vent not a lot of people understand.

LOTON -- WTF?!?! Maybe I'm being all high and mighty but if I'm getting married in a Catholic church it better be an ordained priest doing the service. I just wikipedia'ed deacons (clearly I'm an AWESOME Catholic with tons of knowledge). Looks like if you have a full nuptial mass, a priest has to perform it, but if you don't the deacon can serve as primary witness. Ugh. I'll probably call this week.

Kolsen -- If your mom is set on using a particular florist why the heck is she getting all crazy with the screaming?! I thought maybe she was upset over the pricing, but if you're set on a specific place, what's the point of doing research on other places? I don't see Viviano's negotiating a ton, it's not like they don't have enough business. I have no good advice for you, except to say moms can be a real pain, eh? If you're helping to pay though, this isn't her show and she needs to understand that. I'd have a come to Jesus meeting with her, though if this is just who she is, it may not work :-)

So, now I'm going to go stew over my church some more.

Meegles - dealing with the church was the *worst*. Our counseling wasn't done until 3 weeks before. I basically had to go the stalker route (call everyday) to get anything scheduled. They want us to get married and have a full mass but they make it so frustrating to do so...I'll never understand!! Sorry this is not going as you would have liked

I want to punch my FMIL and FSIL. Fi's sister is a "mormon" now apparently, and her husband is trying to pick out MY bridesmaids dresses because they need to be "modest". Last time I checked this was OUR wedding and were NOT mormon and I'm NOT doing what they want. If they don't like the dresses I picked out, then they can just not be in the wedding. I dont need their sh*t because this isn't THEIR day it's OUR day. And FMIL is helping her get this MODEST dress that isn't what my other girls are wearing. Hey, thanks for keeping me in the loop and letting me know whats going on in MY wedding.

Vent: FI went to New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl yesterday. I know he was out probably til 4 partying (which I'm fine with) but I wish he would text me already so I know he is alive at least

I am completely obssessed with pinterest.  I no longer want to do anything else.  I realize that it is unhealthy, but apparently my mental health is  far less important to me than is gathering inspiration photos for the four-acre tuscan garden I will never actually have.

haha I know!!! Usually I'm NEVER stressed out like this. Ever. But, in the last year I've had 5 surgeries, planning a wedding, going back to school and trying to get my health back on track. I just want people to cooperate with me and no one can seem to do such a simple task lol.

I am catholic but Fi isn't. So we aren't able to have a full catholic mass unless he converts. So the Deacon can perform our "mass."

I don't blame you for being stressed out. Remember when they wouldn't call me back? I thought I was gonna storm down there and hurt someone.

My confession and vent all rolled into one:

Just figured out I'm probably going to get SCREWED for taxes this year. I am the breadwinner in my relationship and pay for pretty much all of our living expenses, but it looks like I made JUST enough money to push me into the next tax bracket, so intstead of getting $4,000 back I will probably owe $3,000. I am so incredibly frustrated by this because I do NOT have that kind of cash to give the government, especially when FI and I are paying for the wedding! I'm so angry I didn't realize this sooner because I could have done more pre-tax stuff like put more into retirement or whatever, and now I'm going to end up having to pay.

I sort of wish FI and I had just gone to the court house so we could file taxes jointly. I soooo can not afford to pay butt tons of money to the government by April. *sigh*

Vent:  I have to work late and DH is at a dentist appointment so I don't think the handyman can come tonight.

Background - Bella decided she was Evil Kenvil/suicidal on Monday night and jumped from our second floor bannister onto the ceiling fan on our vaulted ceiling.  One of the blades broke off and they both crashed to the floor.  Thankfully she's fine but I'm not.  I haven't been able to sleep the past two nights because I'm scared she's dumb enough to try it again.  So we called a handyman to come and get rid of the ceiling fan all together.  He could come tonight but I don't think either of us will be there in time.  Looks like another night of no sleep for me

Thanks girls   Yeah it was pretty scary although I guess it's good to know she can land a fall that high.  I just want the thing gone so she doesn't get any more daredevil ideas.  She's insane.

Rachael - after my mom heard about Bella she youtubed cat and ceiling fan videos and apparently they are some funny ones.  I told her I wasn't quite ready to find the humor in the situation yet.

I love showering in dim light. Also, I think it's hilarious you enjoyed a cookie while showering!

Liz -- so glad Bella is OK. My first childhood dog walked off the second floor balcony of our home twice. She was blind so we expect she just didn't know and the banister just wasn't narrow enough. She survived both falls without any broken bones which shocks me! Bella sounds like a cat that's quick on her toes!

#1--My bathroom has no windows so if you turn off the lights its super dark. Sometimes I will shut the door and just take a shower or bath in the dark just by candlelight. It's fun. I'll lay down in the bath while the shower is running and pretend I'm in the rainforest lol. Wow that's embarrassing.

#2--I'm so proud of you for doing that. Awesome!

Totally used to do this too...  I had to stick a washcloth on my face though because the water ran up my nose and I feel like I'm drowning.  It was relaxing to just lay in the warm water.  We have a separate tub and shower stall at our new house, so I can't do that anymore.  Sad Panda :0(  (lol that is embarassing)
