I have a flower/florist question

So I've only looked at one person so far, and I plan on meeting with a few more, but I'm curious as to the average price of things.  Our wedding party is 9 bm, 2 junior bm, 9 gm, 2 ring bearer, 2 father bout., 2 mother corsage, bridal and toss bouquet and 15 tall centerpieces, with lots of curly willow and a nice bunch of flowers at the base.  Total for everything is $1960.  It's $90 for each centerpiece.  Is this expensive, or a pretty good deal?  Thanks in advance!!

Not sure where you live, but if you live near Shelby, i would go to Mandel Greenhouse and Florist on 24 Mile just west of Schoennher (i probably spelled that wrong). Natalie is great at her job and we are getting a boat-load of things!
    Bouts: $6.50-8.50 each
    Bouquets: $42 each
Brides bouq and toss bouq: $50
Two alter arrangements (curvy willow in them): $55 each
Our centerpieces aren't "huge" but are very resonably priced and I'm sure she could beat the $90 a centerpiece.

I have more estimated prices if you need more.

There is another amazing florist that owns Florish Event Design. She was go great but just a little more expensive that Mandels.  Both would be great options!

Good luck and hope that helps!
  • I think that's a good deal.  I have very similar counts to you, and my total is right around $1900!  7 BMs,  7 GM, 2 father bout., 3 mother corsage, bridal bouquet, toss bouquet, cake flowers, misc petals, 11 short arrangements, and 11 tall arrangements.

  • I was actually quoted less (but don't know how the final amount will turn out for a couple more weeks). I have 7 GM and BM, family corsages/bouts, and I think quoted 20 centerpieces for just over $1,400. I'm not using willows or anything tall, so that might be why your price is a little higher.

  • I am not to familiar with flowers but that seems high.  We have a small party, 3 BM and 3 GM but have 3 mother cors., 3 father bouts, 8 grandparent bouts, 10 tall, 10 short center, 2 full vases at registration table, archway, cake and cake table flowers, head table arrangements, and lots of flower petals for $1500.  The bridal toss is free.  The first quote I received was almost $2000!  I would still shop around, you might be able to get it less expensive elsewhere.

  • I think that sounds reasonable but it's not cheap and I would definitely still look around at other places. I had 11 bm, 11gm, 2 mothers corsages, 2 grandmother corsages, one father bouts, one flower girl wand, and she did all 25 tables. My table centerpieces ranged from tall vases with branches, orchids, and hanging candles, the second was Candelabras surrounded my mint julep cup bouquets, the third was flowers surrounded by large canldes (the flowers were actually the BM bouquets to save money) and two extra candelabras for the head table. My total was around $2900. That also included her team to set everything up entirely and take it down at the end of the wedding.

ps my tall branch vases were $100 each.
  • What kind of flowers are you interested in?? I work at a florist & I might be able to give you an idea of what our prices are =]

Thanks everyone for the helpful hints!!

Well my bouqeut had cala lili and protea in it, that I know for sure, other than that, not sure.  The other bouquets were Hydrangea, gerbers and something else.  I was basically looking for cheaper flowers, NO roses, that were fall colors.  Just as long as they looked pretty.  The only flowers I am particular about is my bouquet.  And I had curly willow incorporated in all the flowers.

  • As far as pricing goes, I would say 1,900 is a decent price. I would definitely try at least 2 more florists to compare though. Just remember that if boquets and centerpieces are really important to you, don't feel like you have to skimp out on them!! Sorry I don't have more info for you =(
  • What florist is everyone using? I'm searching for 2nd and 3rd opinions, and your prices sound good.... :)
