Anyone planning downriver?

I have finally set the date and am getting into planning but...does anyone have any ideas on a ceremony venue downriver? The wedding will be on 10-29-11. I am pretty sure all of our guests will appreciate an indoor location! Any kind of input would be great. This is all seeming so overwhelming...Thanks so much!

YAY another downriver bride! I feel like I'm the only one sometimes!  What size/type/formality of a wedding do you plan on having?  You'll find lots of help on here, though most of it is outside the DR ;)
We're having the ceremony at St. Mary Magdalen, and reception at Arnaldos.  Good luck and let me know if you need any recommendations!!

I'm downriver(ish)-Dearborn too! There aren't too many of us! Heritage Park in Taylor has a cute little chapel. http://www.thelittleweddingchapel.com/lakeside.htm

Does "as inexpensive as possible" count as a budget? I'm not planning on anything huge and have just started the guest list but I am certain that it will not be more than like...100, at least for the ceremony. I want to keep the ceremony more of a close family and friends thing. I am only going to have 4 people in the weeding party. Neither of us has any religious affiliation so no church. It just seems that there aren't any downriver venues on theknot and the yellow pages weren't too helpfulFrown

I am planning downriver too!!! I wanted to book Arnaldos soo bad and went I went to put the deposit down in Jan. for my wedding in Aug. 2011 and it was already booked :(. There is a church in Taylor on Northline I believe, that allows non- members to be married there let me know if your interested and I can try and find the name and number for you.

the church on northline is my church! beacon baptist church it does allow non members to be married there (last i knew) and it is truly very beautiful inside... not much need to decorate which is great if you are on a budget! check out wayne tree manor... its in wayne at vanborn and wayne road! very spacious if needed but also has a very nice smaller room..... and very nice on the budget!

I'm not sure how far downriver you're planning, but I had my reception at LaRoy's Hall in La Salle (near Monroe).  I had a great experience.  (There's a review in my bio in my siggy.)  They have a package that includes food, bar, and linens for $32.95 pp.  That's a very good price from what I looked at!

I planned a previous wedding downriver and lived downriver for most of my life.
Are you just looking for an indoor ceremony location? Or do you need a reception location as well?

Chapel on the Green (part of Orlando Familia banquet center at Riverview Highlands Golf Course) is pretty. It's not very big but it's nice. And they have a pretty hall too that overlooks the golf course.

Downriver bride here!! Theres more of us than I thought!

When I had called Beacon Baptist they told me we had to  be members for 6 months!! I was past the time for that.

Many churches I called will marry non memembers. It was hard for me because of the music I wanted played..non-traditional music. We are having our ceremony at Trinity Lutheran in Wyandotte. Its sooo pretty! Its $400, and you have to do pre-marital counseling...which was actually fun! Brenda was great to work with. We only had to do two sessions because of our "test results". It was an extra $30 for that. There are a few churches in Wyandotte that are very nice. St Paul on Goddard rd off off Telegraph is gorgeous! but there wouldnt allow most of my songs to be played, lol.

Let me know if you want more info on Trinity Lutheran!

ps...not sure if you have a reception venue, but we are having ours at Stone Creek in Flat Rock and they have a very nice setup for an indoor ceremony. =)

There's also the Grecian Center...they have a little chapel behind the main reception venue that is very pretty.

Lakes of Taylor golf course has nice banquet facilities too, and would work for a smaller reception...not sure about ceremonies there though.

I love Stone Creek Banquet Center in Flat Rock...we almost booked that also! I work at Lakes of Taylor golf course and they have a terrace that outlooks the golf course where they hold ceremonies!

I am a downriver bride as well!  I am looking into possibly doing a reception outside, if I can find a place. :-/
