Reception Venue Help

I've made a post here before about needing a venue, but didn't expand on it enough.

Our date is January 19, 2013 (yes I know, I'm running out of time!) and we are planning for an indoor winter theme. Our colors will be ice/baby blue and light gray. Our goal is to have as much of it diy/eco-friendly as possible, and are aiming to stay under a budget of $10,000. The guest list is around 125-150 people.

We were very interested in the Lake St. Clair Metroparks Activity Center ... until they changed caterers and now you are required to use the new one, no matter what!

Basically we are very opposite of wanting the "inclusive" packages. I would hate to spend money per person for items that I would bring in myself or ones that I would not use. For the theme and style that we are looking for we do not want the white chair covers, colored sashes, china, etc. We are looking for something more alternative that will allow us to use the space how we would like to. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I would prefer a location that allowed outside catering/bringing in your own food, but there aren't many out there ... are there?

  • I know the Tplex recently upped their prices, but since you're a January bride, you might be able to work out a deal with them.

  • I would recommend doing a search at the bottom of this board for "venue". This has been a popular topic for several years. The link below is to one thread with lots of ideas

There are more. Check the most recent threads that come up on your search, things in the past year or so..........anything older than that and you risk it not being in business.

  • I am also on a very strict budget!
I found the Macadonian Cultural Center 19 and Ryan,
sterling heights. For food, bar, appetizers, late night snack,
cake cutting/serving, family style serving, champ toast for all
guests...It came out to about $5400! I tried their food at a bridal show
and their Steak Diana is great! They have a beautiful bar and dance
floor and very clean inside. Google them, they  have pics and their prices.

    Hope this helps :)
