If I Knew Then What I Know Now...

Ok, so, I know many people on here are already married which is awesome! Is there anything you would have done slightly different for your wedding now that's its happened i.e. money spent on something that really wasn't necessary or maybe something you wished you would have spent money on, etc. I know many people are on a budget and I keep seeing the $$$ signs rack up and I wonder how much of it, really, will I be glad I splurged on or what should I splurge on that's totally worth it....was it all worth every cent??? Thanks - I'm excited to hear your feedback!!! Have a beautiful day!!!

We were very budget conscious and eventhough we didn't set one we knew that we didn't want to go over a certain amount of money. You really have to make a list and see where you can find the best value. For example DH refused to spend more than $600 on a DJ because he thinks that it wasn't worth it., but we had great music because we supplied them with our song list. We cut cost by doing our flowers. We didn't get all the little extra stuff that usually adds up when planning a wedding and we cut our guest list. Our biggest cost was the reception venue and Austin was very pleased with everything so we were great.

To key to not over spending is having a budget and sticking to it

I don't regret anything and thought our wedding was absolutely perfect, but as we are buying our first house right now, I sometimes imagine what it would be like if we had that money to put towards a house rather than our wedding.

The one thing I don't regret spending money on was the videographer.  Some of you girls may remember me going back and forth on it...and I am so glad we chose to hire someone!

My regret isn't directly money related.  I wish I had invited more people to party with us!

I am pretty happy with everything that we did do.  We went through what was important to us and cut down on areas that weren't, like the flowers.  We also cut out kids which I was very happy about too, a lot of their parents partied with us till the end, where I know they would have left at like 8pm if they had the kids with them.

I researched prices and places like crazy, so I was able to get a lot of unnecessary (but very fun) things (like a martini luge, gobo on the dance floor wall, and uplighting) without going crazy over the budget.

I wish I would have listened to my mom when she said not to invite my white trash cousin but I felt bad... all the way up until he stole a bunch of stuff from us at the reception.

I wish I had invited a more friends - I was trying to keep the guest list small (small reception venue) but so many OOT relatives dropped out at the last minute after first accepting. So I had some extra space anyway.

Am very glad though that I did not invite the PITA drama-king cousin.

I wish I had stood firm about not putting the beads back on the waistlline of my dress after the skirt and bodice had been taken apart for alterations. It was a waste of $250. It was not a major feature and the dress would have looked just fine without it.

I wish I had forced DH to spend more time shopping for his own ring. It's beautiful, cost a fortune, and he never wears it because "it's uncomfortable". Well, he chose it, I didn't.

This is my second marriage, so in a way it kind of worked out good for me:) And i found my forever love!

i would not have spent nearly as much on my cake. I spent $600 and at the end fo the day...no one cares what your cake looks like and no one is going to rememeber it. i would rather of had a little cake and sheets for the guests. i don't regret sepnding money on my photographer, those are memories you will always have. I did a lot of my decor DIY and it was great, i will do that this time also!!
