Daddy/Daughter dance?

What song are you dancing to your dad with?  My dad is going nuts trying to find something.I hate watching these dances at weddings.  So we were thinking of me and my dad starting, then after like 30 second, Chris and his mom will be introduced.  That way his family can watch him and mine can watch me, and there will be less people bored.  Anyone else do it this way?

I'm using "my little girl" by Tim McGraw. If you want to do it that way you could use "My Wish" by The Rascal Flatts....it's more fitting for parent/child rather than daddy/daughter.

i'm a fan of country so I'm thinking of using Tim McGraw "My Little Girl". My dad and I are really close, this song seriously makes me cry like a baby.

I loved her first by Heartland.  That song makes we want to cry every time, but I like your idea on sharing the dance.  My friend did that and thought it worked out perfectly.

We are also using My Little Girl by Tim McGraw. It also makes me cry every time so I'm not too sure why I'm using it... but I LOVE that song, and my dad didn't care.

I think we will end up doing both at the same time like you and pp are doing. I really like "You are the sunshine of my life" by Stevie Wonder. My dad and I danced to that at my graduation party and it has kinda become "our song" so I really want that played. If we end up doing a seperate son/mother dance, I will leave FI in charge of picking out a song.

We haven't totally decided about dances yet, but I like the idea of combining them. I love my dad, and I would say that we are close, but I'm not a "Daddy's Girl" type person. I'm considering "Into the Mystic" by Van Morrison.

We are doing "I Loved Her First" by Heartland. I do like Elizabeth's idea about using "My Wish" by Rascal Flatts.  FI is dancing to that with his mom so I think it would work for both.

I didn't do any dances because of too much drama. Since you're having Chris & his mom dance w/ you, maybe something not so geared towards Father & Daughter. lol I liked Rachel's song...it was really nice. Also, "My Life" by the Beatles? If you do just a Father/Daughter song, I really liked Paul Simon's "Father & Daughter" song (I think that's what it's called). I danced to "I'll be" by Reba McIntyre w/ my mom...it makes us both cry. That was my only parent dance, but it was while everyone was on the floor.

Austin and I decided that we wont be doing any of the dances. He did however said that he would do a daddy daughter dance with our daughter who is only two. We will see how that works.

we are using "in my life" by the beatles (I think scarywife already mentioned that one, though). i actually like the fact that it's not specifically about a daddy-daughter relationship. just love the song!

We are doing the father/daughter, mother/son dances together as well and we are using Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World mix by that Hawaiian guy, Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. My sister will be dancing with my step-dad at the same time and then we'll switch half way through. I can't stand country and I love these two songs so it worked out well!

Hey lady! :) That's exactly what I wanted to do, but my dad didn't go for it-he wanted a song just for him and I. So we danced to "Daddy's Little Girl" by Michael Bolton and it really was a special moment. But I originally wanted to do what you said....I think that's totally fine. Still thinking about a song that would be good for both dances....

we were totally going to do the joint dance because DH didn't want to spend an entire song with his mom (isn't that pathetic) but then MIL thought it would take away from me & my dad. We danced to Louis Armstrong- what a wonderful world.  it's very traditional & alot of brides do it, but that song has a specific special meaning for us so there was no other question.

At my cousin's wedding, they brought the bride out to dance with her dad then midway through the song they said "lets have all fathers and daughters come out and dance," which made for less boredom. I got to go out there and dance with my dad as did everyone else. Then for the mother-son dance, same thing. I know this may sound kind of hokey, but when I was a little kid my dad and I always used to sing "Margaritaville" together.  It was pretty much "our song."  So I told the DJ that I wanted our dance to be to Margaritaville, but the more I think about it, I'm not sure if that would be cheesey or not so I'm thinking about changing it.

Since you are looking for a joint song, this might not be of much help, but Tueplo Honey by Van Morrison is a great song for a father daughter dance.
