When should I start fitting my dress?

Since I got my dress so soon, I have no idea when I should start getting alterations.Also, how much should I expect to spend? I know it will vary but the dress is too long and too big if that helps. Just looking for a ballpark figure.Thanks ladies!

I was told two months before.  I'm no help on the cost of alterations though.

my seamstress told me to call her 2 months ahead & we'd set up a time then...probably starting around 4 weeks prior to the wedding

Ohh wow, I figured maybe 6 months before but I guess that leaves a lot of time to gain or lose weight.

I had my first fitting about 7-8 weeks out, and my 2nd fitting 2 weeks out.  I haven't gotten my final bill, but I think the hem is $50 and it's $8-$10 per bustle pin. So, depending on what exactly you have done, it'll probably be a minimum of $100. Having the dress taken in, adding fabric, or otherwise altering the structure of the dress will cost a lot more.

Like PP, 2 months out. Alterations - could spend up to 100 to take the seams in, depends on how the fabric is.. some will charge more if it's delicate.. not sure about shortening it, but i'm assuming up to 50.

Thanks! My dress is very simple. No beading or lace so it should be pretty simple.

hi im getting married on oct 10th and i had my 1st fitting on 8/17. i will get my dress back on 9/23 and have a final fitting that day. its costing me $165 to have it shortened and a bustle put in.
