Name change help

I was planning to go to the social security office today to start the name changing process, but I was confused about what I read online. After our ceremony the reverend gave us one of three copies of the license we signed....is that all I need to go do this, or is something supposed to be coming in the mail? This says marriage license on the top but I wasn't sure. Thanks ladies!

That should be all you need.  We had three copies as well that we had to sign and the one the given to us at the ceremony was an offical copy so it was all we needed.

As far as I know, you need to go back to the County office, and get an official copy of the license with the seal on it. I just posted something like this on The Nest... http://community.thenest.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/22800346.aspx

I just went in with one of the copies (they give it right back to you) and the filled out the form that I found online.  Then you get your new soc card in the mail.

They should have given you a copy with the seal on it at your ceremony, my church did that. I was confused by their posting too. Take your marriage license EVERYWHERE even the bank. The bank is giving me a hassle and I dont know why. This is not my favorite part but I'm about half way there!

i was under the impression you needed a birth certificate  or  something as well..  Am I wrong then?  Just the marriage license?
