What do you think - Capital club, river club or nice golf course

Can you please provide some feedback on the venues?

Re: What do you think - Capital club, river club or nice golf course

  • Could you provide some more details? Like, how many people, what kind of atmosphere/feel you're going for, etc. That might help us give you some more helpful feedback. =)
  • I went and saw the river club and i thought it was pretty, the food was not my cup of tea and the carpet in the buckeye room clashed with my colors so we decided against it, it is a very pretty place!
  • River Club is nice, it was in contention, though we didn't go with it as we liked the Athenaeum more. We did eat in their restaurant once and thought the food was good. The thing I liked most about it was the view from their patio, and since we weren't going to have our ceremony there, they wouldn't let us use the patio for more than a couple pictures, so that's where they lost us.

  • I went to a luncheon at Confluence Park for Mother's Day and it was nice.  The food was good and the view was pretty.  I think if I remember correctly from my research for my wedding there are a ton of great downtown places that are much more up to date for the same prices you'd pay for Confluence.

Also, I remember many woman showing up to the luncheon late because their GPS did not give them accurate directions to get there, it had them turning the wrong way at one of the streets.  Just something to keep in mind if you do choose them.
  • My sister had her reception at Confluence (rive club) and I thought it was soooo pretty. If she hadn't done hers there I would have choosen it (I did not want to copy her). The staff and everyone were great. The view is gorgeous and they kept everything on time. I personally think golf courses are over rated but that is just my opinion and I've never been to the capital club so I can't give advice on that one.

  • Do you remember which room she had her wedding? Do you need to do lots of decor for the room?
  • She had her wedding in I believe the scioto room (whichever one holds 120 people). We did a few decorations but not much. Honestly when everything was put out (like the tables with the linens and the centerpieces) the room really looks very different in a good way. A friend of mine had her reception in the same room and her reception was very pretty as well. But I believe she had some decorations I have to ask her to make sure it was a while ago. Were you thinking of doing yours in the day or at night? My sister had hers in the daytime (we were done by 4:30 I think) and my friend had hers at night, I honestly thought the room looked better with the sun streaming in but that was just my personal preference.

  • I heard the river looks nasty.. Is it true?
  • We had our reception at Roual American Links. It is in Galena, so it is a little farther away, but looks like a castle :)

  • I almost went to the Confluence Boat House but for the same cost I could get the Capital Club and they are remolding. I would bet if it was kept up dated the cost would be much more. My wedding not till June so cant tell you much about it yet beside that is where I went. I don't think the river looks dirty though.
