Lutheran (or Christian in general) wedding question

I finally got around to checking what version of the bible is used in the church where we are getting married. It is the American Standard Version.  So, I looked up our readings in them, and it is the old English writing (for lack of better words).
Do you think if we asked to use the New International Version we would be allowed to?

For comarison this is what it would sound like with American Standard:

And with New International:

NIV is used by the Lutheran Church, so I don't see that they would object to you using that version, but if ASV is used by your church guests may not be able to follow along word by word unless your programs have the full readings - but in the grand scheme of things, readings are readings, I don't think there will be mass confusion. Before you do anything, I'd check with your church to be safe.

Thanks.  We sent them an e-mail asking if they would be okay with that.  I just feel like people understand NIV better and are more likely to not zone out (although, let's face it most will zone out during the ceremony anyway).

When we were trying to figure out which version the church uses, we googled it and noticed that the Lutheran church as a whole recgnizes multiple different versions.

We just showed up with our readings printed out on a page, and they allowed it.  I don't think we were ever asked which version we were using.  Don't make a mountain out of a molehill. :)
