Hotel blocks?--Downtown Columbus

I'm currently in the process of arranging a hotel block for my wedding guests in April. My reception is at The Columbus Athenaeum, and I would like a hotel within walking distance. We will probably need 15 rooms on Fri 4/15 and 30 on Sat 4/16. The Holiday Inn on East Town St is recommended by the Athenaeum, but I am leaning towards the Renaissance Columbus because it is literally across the street from the Athenaeum and is about the same price. Anyone use either of these hotels? Both charge daily parking fees of $10-20 dollars (most downtown hotels I've checked into also do). Was this a problem for any of your guests? Any other recommendations? Thanks everyone! :)

I am also having my reception at the Athenaeum in June and I blocked rooms off at the Renaissance.  They first released a block of 15 rooms thurs-sat and once that filled up they release additional rooms in blocks of 5 upon availability.  So the faster they fill up the better you are if you need more. Otherwise, if you want more closer to your wedding day they most likely won't have any available.  I have been able to get additional rooms without a problem so far.  I chose the Renaissance because of how close it was and they also gave me a really good rate.  Good Luck!

I've heard better things about the Renaissance. I would go with them. Try to negotiate a free room for yourself and your new hubby for the night of the wedding for bringing them your business. I've had a few friends who that has worked for in downtown Columbus. GL!

Not either of these, but I had a wonderful experience with the Drury... just throwing it out there :)

I am getting married at the Athenaeum and chose the Renaissance as well.  I got my bridal sweet, and three "club level" rooms for our parents at the same discounted price as the rest of the rooms.  They've been really good to work with so far and have answered all my e-mails quickly.

I blocked my rooms at Hyatt on Cap Square (its literally right there)...they reserved 25 rooms for me! They are great to work with (so far). Call to talk to Maggie Butler

    Good luck!
