Article in today's Freep about wedding flowers

I always read both papers online every day, and saw this:

The picture of the white rose centerpiece is from the white rose wedding package I ordered from Costco online. They were just that beautiful, with pearls in the heads of some of the roses. This is how the bouquets looked too.

But I thought it was a nice article on different styles.

Re: Article in today's Freep about wedding flowers

  • Would you recommend Costco for flowers?  I don't have a membership but would buy one if the flowers were good.  Thx
  • Fernella, I would definitely recommend a Costco membership for flowers! I had the membership years before I planned on getting married.

The White Rose Wedding package is $399 (bouquets, bouts, corsages, some centerpieces). Info on all wedding packages here:

They have rose packages in more colors than just white, and they have other types of flowers like calla lillies, sunflowers, or a variety. They will also custom make your order by allowing you to substitute a centerpieces for a bouquet if you need more bouquets. There isn't any flexibility on the bouts/corsages though. If you use the above link, you can also go to the vistaflor website with more selections. They are the floral company that supplies the Costco packages and flowers, but offer more selections outside the Costco website.

You can also order bulk flowers online, or order them for pickup at the local store. I asked at the customer service desk of our local Costco who the florist was for the flowers for their kiosk in the store. They gave me the phone number of the florist who does their flowers. I called her when I got it, and she said to call her about 2-3 weeks before the wedding. I could order any of the bulk flowers on their website for direct pickup from the store. I found out from this florist that she does up to 18 weddings each week in the summer. By having them at the store for pickup, I was able to see them in person myself before paying for them. I ordered 96 white long stemmed vendella roses, 80 stems of white asiatic lillies, and 2 large bunches of baby's breath. I picked them up 3 days before the wedding, and arranged the centerpieces the morning before and took them to the venue that night. All of these flowers, for 10 centerpieces cost me $173.

    Here are the bulk flowers:

Here are pictures of the arrangements I made:

So, a bride's bouquet, 4 bridesmaid bouquets, additional rose centerpieces (I used on my cake and gift table), a toss bouquet, 6 corsages, 6 boutonnieres, and flowers for 10 centerpieces cost me $572. I already had the vases from a local florist going out of business long before the wedding.

I can't tell you enough how impressed everyone was with the quality and beauty of the flowers. The bouquets lasted another 7-10 days AFTER the wedding!

Here is a closeup of my bouquet. The bridesmaid bouquets were identical, but smaller.
