Where can I get premarital counseling??

I'm in Southgate, MI.   Does insurance cover this?  How much should this cost?

I'd talk to your officiant.  The only pre-marital counseling programs I know of are through faith-based organizations, like your church.  Although I'm sure there are others, maybe some other ladies on the board can help you.  Our premarital counseling simply consisted of talking to the priest at my church.  And it was free.  In addition, we did a special engaged couples weekend retreat through the Diocese, that was $200 (I think because it covered food and overnight accommodations).  I highly doubt any insurance would cover something like this, even if you went through a professional psychologist.  I'd look for a cheaper option!

Whether or not your insurance covers it depends solely on your policy. You can call the number on your insurance card and ask.

How much it costs will vary greatly as well.

Are you religious? Many churches offer varies forms of counseling even to non-parish members.

Or are you looking for a secular, psychiatric-type counselor?

We went through a Christian Couselor recommended to us by a church that does not do it's own counseling: http://www.livinglifecounseling.com/. They have offices in Brighton and Livonia. We found it to be very helpful. He can tell you whether he can take your insurance if you call. Our insurance didn't cover it, but we were able to submit it for reimbursement through our health savings account.

I have Employee Assistance Program (EAP) at work, and that covers three sessions with a pre-marital counselor. Anything after that, my health insurance will pay for part of any additional sessions.
