Re: Check my invite? Help please!

  • I would have "three *o'clock*" and "six *o'clock*"  rather than just "three" and "six". But I'm sure it just depends on how formal your invitation and event will be.
  • Some basic rules of "invitation etiquette"
If it is a church wedding then you "request the honour of your presence"
If it is not a church wedding then "invite you to join......."
If you and Fi are putting on the wedding then it reads something like Sue Smith and Bob Jones invite you to join them as they.....or request your presence.... the word 'honour' is for religious/ church ceremonies.
If parents are hosting the wedding then it is Mr.and Mrs. Smith....etc.request the honour of your presence at the wedding of their daughter.....etc
If both sets of parents are hosting the wedding then it is Mr.and Mrs. Tom Smith and Mr.and Mrs. Fred Jones............request the honour of your presence at the ceremony..............etc.............
Times are written out..........Two O'Clock in the afternoon
    Year is Twothousand Twelve.....
Location of the wedding is Name of Place, address (no abreviations for road, avenue etc) , then city and state.
Reception information can be on seperate reception card or on the invitation itself if you have enough space. If reception is immediately after the ceremony then you can say Reception to follow, but if the reception is sometime later then just print Dinner reception....or reception and then list the time (again spelling it out with O'Clock in the evening) name of venue, address.
There are tons of books and just as many different opinions on the "right way"!
These are all those formal invitation 'rules' of course how you design your invitation is totally up to you. It is your day and the invites can be whatever YOU like!
