He is a wonderful human being who is humble, generous and  honest yet also strong and decisive.  He has a rare mix of gifts where he can go from being a fantastic engineer to baking pies and renovating the kitchen.  He is a British expat who loves the US and Michigan while doing everything he can to stay in touch with the family he loves and is close to in the UK and I feel utterly blessed that he chose me.

Tell us something about your FI/DH. His family is from Liberia and he is the only person in his immediate family who was born in the U.S.  He was raised in the South and  I tease him about not having either a Southern or African accent. We have been together for nearly 7 years, but we were broken up when he came to my house in the middle of the night and proposed :-)

Favorite part of the planning process? Getting RSVPs back and seeing all the people who will be celebrating with us!
Least favorite part of the planning process? All of the stuff that can't be done until a certain time (like seating charts, escort cards, etc)
What is/was your biggest challenge with planning your wedding? Keeping myself calm and non-stressed.  I'm a total type A so the stuff that I can't do anything about is driving me insane!
Tell us something about your FI/DH. He is the sweetest, most loving man I know.  He always has a huge smile on his face, and he is the only person who can calm me down and make feel okay during all this stress.  He has the biggest heart of anyone I know and I pinch myself daily thinking how lucky I am that he chose me!

Least favorite part of the planning process?  Vendors who try to squeeze more money out of you. A couple of people kept upping the price after we debated whether to go with them. I begged FI to go with the photobooth, and once I convinced him, the guy suddenly said there was a 5 hour minimum. There were other things, but I don't want to turn this into a long rant. 

What is/was your biggest challenge with planning your wedding? Not fitting into the dresses that I really loved. I did find a dress that seems to be made for me, but the one I really wanted was terrible for my body type. I've also had a terrible time finding plus-size bridesmaids dresses for my Matron of Honor/sister to try on. But my Maid of Honor/youngest sister was just diagnosed with leukemia on Friday, and all of this seems pretty insignificant right now.

What is/was your biggest challenge with planning your wedding? Biggest challenge was pulling all of our DIY together, I only feel like we partially succeeded.

Favorite part of the planning process? A lot of things, actually.  Looking for a dress and realizing that even a plus sized bride could look beautiful - that might be the best.  But it has also been great to work on planning something so important with my FI - it has improved our teamwork!

Least favorite part of the planning process?  The guest list.  We're up to 255.  Ugh.

What is/was your biggest challenge with planning your wedding? Most of my bridesmaids live out of state and my MOH just had a second baby so she is really busy.  So I would say doing it alone - without girl input - has been the biggest challenges/biggest disappointment.  (FI helps a lot but he's not a great person to discuss flower arrangements or escort card design with).

Tell us something about your FI/DH.  He is my best friend.  A total goofball at heart who cracks corny jokes that make me roll my eyes - and then laugh.  He is the most generous person I know - and the kindest.  He's a great influence on me and helps me be a better person.  He's also a phenomenal chef, which is a really nice bonus!

Tell us something about your FI/DH. FI works at a country club as the food and beverage manager, so he thinks he knows EVERYTHING about weddings. He's more big-picture, I'm more detail oriented. I guess we make a good team!

Favorite part of the planning process? Working my nature photography into things for the wedding. We used my photos for the inviation suites, the seating chart, reception sign and the table numbers.
Least favorite part of the planning process? I didn't really mind most of it, but if I had to pick it would be tracking people down for RSVPs.
What is/was your biggest challenge with planning your wedding?  It was so hard for me to make concrete decisions. I had tons of great ideas I loved until it was time to put them into practice and make that final decision.
Tell us something about your FI/DH. He got a new job today!! He graduated 2 years ago and has been stuck in sales jobs ever since but today he got a scheduling job with a great company with regular pay and no comission!

We got married in Milford at the Milford Presbyterian Church (our hometown). The reception was in South Lyon, MI at Lyon Oaks G.C.

Favorite part of the planning process?
Talking to my Mom (almost) everyday on the way to work giving her an update on RSVP's, Vendors, Etc. I moved from Michigan to North Carolina in 2011 and the move was kinda hard on her. She really felt like part of the planning process even if she was 700 miles away. 

Least favorite part of the planning process?
Waiting on RSVP's. Ugh. We invited 290 people and the day our RSVP's were due we were waiting on 130. For all the brides still planning - make sure you check with ALL of your vendors for when they'll need your final guest count before you set your RSVP date. We gave ourselves plenty of time between that date and when the count was due to the caterer. I never thought that our florist would need the final count almost 20 days before the wedding. I had 2 days after our RSVP date to contact over 100 people so I would know how many chair covers I would need. Not. Fun. 

What is/was your biggest challenge with planning your wedding?
Planning from several states away was hard in the last few months. I couldn't just run over to the church or baker for final appointments. Every trip back to MI was jam-packed with wedding related tasks. We are so happy that our upcoming trip home for the holidays won't be full of dress shopping, cake tasting, & florist meetings.

Most of it---its stressful and expensive. Also, unwanted opinions abouy what I should and SHOULDN'T do! The only thing my now Husband and I ever really fought about was our guest list and they were usually pretty big fights- that sucked.

What is/was your biggest challenge with planning your wedding?
Trying to keep my favorited ideas realistic because of price. I honestly think that unless you have a large budget, planning is a bit of a let down because most of my favorite ideas were beyond expensive and I couldn't even do it the way I wanted without major tradeoffs. The wedding was amazing-this is just how I feel about the planning part.

You will probably never find someone that could say something bad about his personality/character because he's such a nice guy and fun person to be around.

What is/was your biggest challenge with planning your wedding?
Managing personalities and expectations.  It's awesome that people feel so involved in our relationship, but it's no fun to balance  priorities amongst friends/family.

He's amazing. He has such a big heart.  We're a team and I love that I get to keep him forever.

He works for the same agency I do helping people with mental disabilities learn job skills to get a job on their own some day.  He takes over after I do the assessments and feel they have enough basic skills they can build off of and are of medium to high intelligence.
