Something Fun at the Reception

My wedding is going to be on 4th of July weekend and in keeping with a fun celebration theme we are going to have a fireworks show at the reception.  Our dilemma comes as to what else "fun" we can have at the reception.  We were thinking a photobooth or a bounce house.  But they kinda seem "blah" compared to the finale fireworks show.  Does anyone have any suggestions.  We are willing to spend between $1000 - $1500.  PLEASE help, I'm all out of ideas and I don't want it to suck LOL.  Thanks.

I would say go with a photo booth. We have been to two weddings in the last year that had a photo booth and everyone, young and old, had lots of fun with the photo booth. HTH! Good luck!

I second the photo booth! But honestly, I think the fireworks alone are pretty darn fun! :) How cool that you guys are doing that!

photobooth! what about renting a late night food truck or something? i saw a wedding once where they had a hot dog/chips/ice cream concession cart about an hour or so after dinner and before the end. the guests were thrilled.

I love it.  Such good ideas.  I like the late night food truck too since everyone will have to come outside for the fireworks it will be a nice surprise waiting for them.  They can have something to munch on while watching the show.  You ladies are AWESOME.  ThanksLaughing

Hey date twin!  My wedding's 4th of July weekend too and I've thought about fireworks.  Who are you using for fireworks and how much does it cost?  Where is your wedding taking place?

Congrats on having your wedding on the Best Weekend EVER!!!  LOL.  I'm having my wedding in my hometown of Smithfield, Ohio at a place called Friendship Park.  It's a super small town and my parents know the Mayor so it was pretty easy for us to get a permit.  We are using Smithfield's usual 4th of July fireworks provider.  I believe it is a company out of Quaker City, Ohio.  If you check the city you are having the wedding in, since you will have to get a permit from them, they may be able to direct you to some fireworks companies :-)

That sounds like so much fun! I've never heard of anyone doing a fireworks show at their wedding. I agree with the ice cream truck idea :)

The photo booth is fun, my friend had one and I thought, UGH but they brought props and she brought some too.  You could bring some fun fourth stuff, hats etc.  I don't know if they do this, but I know they save all the photos, you could see if they could run it as a slide show at the end.  That would be fun.

We met an airbrush tattoo artist at the Irish American fair last year. They travel for like $300 and will do all different types of temp tattoos. We considered hiring them and getting our new initials stenciled on us after all the formal pictures were taken. Cheap, fun, different. I actually still really like the idea myself. Hmm.... lol

I've heard of folks having a caricaturists at weddings and the guests loved it!

I also have a knottie friend who had flame thrower-jugglers at their wedding.  It was pretty epic.

The food truck sounds awesome!! I smell a new wedding trend ;)
