Biggest Fear

FI and I had a great weekend camping.  To make a long story short I am so sore from hiking 15 miles round trip at over a mile elevation, in the sun and over a canyon.  It was fun!  Saw the eclipse, it was not that great, saw the worlds largest free standing arch, that was neat.

WR issue:  On the way back we picked up my dress, yay, it's finally in my hands!!  HOWEVER, it doesn't really fit.  As you ladies know two weeks ago my seamstress decided it would be better to take it in.  I agreed and so we took it in.  Now, it is to tight.  She actually broke the zipper zipping it up and had to fix it before I left.  She tried to make me feel better by saying that the zippers are not sown in well to begin with.  I am 18 days out and my dress is now to small.  I already exercise 6 days a week.  I love working out and am in really good shape.  I honestly don't know how much more I can lose.  I feel I look great.  I am 5'1" 125pounds but solid muscle.  I have size 34D bust and a butt to match.  I have an Aline strapless dress.  My plan is to drop the weight workouts, increase my cardo, drop all carbs and sugars, even though I hardly eat any as it is.  Any other suggestions to fit into my dress?!  We leave for MI a week from tomorrow.

Aye carumba, it sounds like your seamstress may have made a mistake here. What kind of undergarments are you planning on wearing? It doesn't sound like you can do too much more in terms of losing weight, but maybe a good set of Spanx undergarments will suck you in enough for the day? That is my initial thought...

  • Yikes, it sounds like she made a bad choice taking it in!  I hate to encourage someone who is already fit and who feels great about her physique to lose weight, especially the muscle BUT, if you don't have any other choice my number one suggestion is running.  My booty goes buh-bye as soon as I start putting the mileage on.  It is the best fat burner.  If you can handle up to 5-6 miles at a time, that is ideal.  If not, try to walk/run method (run as long as you can, then switch to walking for a minute or two, repeat).

Again, I hate to say it, but yes, losing the lower body weight training is a good option for now (keep the upper body though!).

As far as diet, I used to compete in figure competions back in the day which made me painfully small.  The diet was mainly:
    -oatmeal in the AM
    -sweet potato at lunch
-protein 5 times per day in the form of egg whites, whey, lean chicken or white fish
-green veggies/broccoli at lunch and dinner

All PLAIN of course, no sauces, etc.  But keep your calories at at least 1500/day, maybe a little more if you're training hard that day.  It's not a diet I recommend anyone to stay on for an extended period of time but for a few weeks, it should shrink you down just enough to squeeze into your dress.  Hope that helps!!
  • Can't you have it let out?  It should only take a day or two...

  • Thanks for the suggestions ladies.  Aloisk I cannot let it out because it's to time consuming with all of the detailing and she is 3 hours away.  I don't have the ability to get back up there.  Amy I'm going to try your diet.  I already run over 6 miles three times a week and do weights the other 3 days.  I'm going to do intervals hard I think on my run days instead of the miles.  I will also take your diet!  Right now I have tuna and cheese for lunch, a protein shake for breakfast and I am not sure about dinner.  Since it's an Aline the only place I need to lose the inches is my rib cage and unfortunately I don't have much there to lose. I'm so stressed!!

  • mpickl, I wasn't planning on any undergarments.  I could  try some spanxs to flatten my tummy a little, that might help.  I have no other bra or anything, I could pick something up and try it.  Would that extra layer be bad though?

  • Oh no, the dreaded ribcage unfit!  As lean as you sound, I wonder if you'll lose anything in that area?  I mean, the ribcage itself is not going ot get any smaller Wink

As far as the diet goes, cutting out dairy like cheese is a big one.  The traditional lean out bodybuilder diet includes no dairy except for whey protein (and egg whites which most nutritionist now don't consider dairy).  PM me if you want more detail on the diet I followed to lose a few centimeters off an already pretty darn lean frame.
  • I sure hope she didn't charge you for the alterations! Geez!

Start drinking loooots of water, maybe you're bloating a little? Goodluck!

  • Yeah, I think instead of all these crash diets, I'd be looking for a local alterations person that can let it out before you leave town. Have you asked anyone on the Phoenix board for recommendations? Or, if you'll be in Detroit for a few days pre-wedding, find someone here to do it.

  • Maybe take out the protein shake??? Is it like a special K one or a homemade one? That is probably what is contributing to the muscle mass/weight. If you use it with cardio, it will probably help you lose some weight.

What about getting those spa wrap treatments? That might help (don't know...never tried, but they sure try to advertise it that way!). Right now I have coffee & a granola bar for b-fast, a small mixed greens sald for lunch (if anything), and a small dinner. My calorie intake is way under 1200/day. No, I am not anorexic...just trying to fit into a dress! Take out beer too. vodka/tonic or some wine is better.

  • yeah I'd be finding a new seamstress pronto.
  • Thanks everybody.  I'm going to actually consult a nutritionist and trainer to make sure I am doing it healthy.  I'm sure I will fit into it.  My seamstress is actually really great, you cannot tell that she took it in at all even with all of the detail.  It is just a bummer that it happened this way, I don't believe she did it on purpose.  The good news, from yesterday I lost 2 pounds by cutting out bread and letting my workouts catch up with me (I'm about three days behind).

  • if you buy spanx, buy the good ones from the website. not the less effective ones from target and department stores. you can loose serious inches if you get the good stuff
