Wedding venue

Is there something that you wish your venu offered that it doesnt? Or what were some of your favorite details of venues you looked at but didnt choose?? What was a must for your venue?

Our Must: We wanted an outdoor reception, with an indoor option in case of rain. We also wanted to be able to secure our own catering and alcohol. We got that at Greenmead in Livonia. They also have a small caterer's kitchen and nice indoor restrooms, so we can be outside & not worry about food or porta potties, LOL.

What I wish it offered: Linens, plateware & flatware. Have to get all that on our own. But they do have tables & chairs, and picnic tables outdoors which we are putting under the tent for the "party" part of the reception.

We didn't look anywhere else once we secured this spot.

Musts: outside for ceremony with indoor backup, near a water/boats, attractive room and outside.  The Detroit Yacht Club fit perfectly :)

What do I wish it had?  Cheaper prices! lol.  Besides that I can't think of anything I wish it had that it doesnt...I'm SO excited about my venue.

I love the ceremony gardens, and the food is AMAZING and those were two huge things for me.

I sort of wish we had a little bit longer time there though.  The ceremony starts at 6 PM, and we get the reception hall (same place) at 6:30 PM and then have to be out at 12:30 AM.  I kind of wish we had an hour or so in between, but maybe it'll work out better this way.

We had a hotel connected to our venue (Inn at St. John's) and that was a MUST for us.  DH's uncle is in a wheelchair and it's a lot of work to get him in and out of his van. Plus it was so great for our guests to party without having to worry about getting home!
