Dykstra Photography?

Has anyone used Dykstra Photography? How was your experience with them?

    I'm confused about something.  You already have them listed as your vendor in your bio but you're just now asking about them?  Are you not having a good experience with them?

    Yes, Charles is our Photographer, we've put down our deposit and had our engagment session with him.

    BUT, he and his wife had a baby last summer, and it seems like it's taking weeks for him to get back to return our phone calls/emails. He had the phone number changed and did not let us know, so we'd been calling the wrong number for almost two months (we ended up calling his associate in Ohio to get the new number).

    I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me if his service has always been this way, or it's just him being frazzled with the newborn.

    I dont see how a newborn is reason to ignore your job. I know lots of people with kids and they still go to work. Im sure its a hard thing and can be stressful but I think you should still hold up to your part of a deal. Also, the phone number thing would make me nervous. Sorry, Id email him or call him and voice your concerns and see if he feels overwhelmed, maybe hes not up to doing it. I hope thats not the case though. Goodluck

    I'm sorry, that really sucks.  I have never heard of the photographer so I'm not much help but I hope it's just a phase...  Either way you definitely deserve better customer service.

    If this guy takes weeks to call you back, I would find someone else. It's a scary thought to know if his customer service is this bad now, what's going to happen after the wedding. It may take you several months to get your pics back and it just seems like too much hastle to me.

    We are using Dykstra for our wedding on May 1st.  We initially started out dealing with Charles to arrange our date and what not, and then he switched us to his East Michigan associate, Breanna, since she is closer to our wedding site (We are in Livonia, so Grand Rapids is a bit far)  We have had an absolutely wonderful experience with them, We booked with Charles last summer, when it sounds like he had his baby, and he was always prompt with returning emails/phone calls - never more than 24 hours.  And Breanna has been wonderful - the only time she didn't get back to us promptly was when she was on vacation, but it wasn't pressing.  We've been very pleased with their work as well - Breanna did our engagement photos, and they came out beautiful.  And both Charles and Breanna will be doing our wedding day photography.  Sorry you are having such a horrible experience with them, but we've never had a problem.
