Tell Us Tuesday

What is your favorite part of wedding planning so far?  What is your least?  What has suprised you the most about planning?

Re: Tell Us Tuesday

  • Hmm I think my favorite part was picking our venue. We went to a bunch of places which was nice and it was still early in the whole wedding planning process so I was still really excited lol. We were so happy when we found it!

My least favorite was probably picking a photographer. It was just very drama filled and really hard to do for us.

We're about 5.5 months out still, so I've got some fun stuff left still :)

I guess I was most surprised by the type of gown I ended up with...totally  not the style I would have ever expected to like or look good on me.

  • Favorite part?  Being done, LOL.

  • Least favorite part has been all the "discussions" and "compromises" with family and with FI and I.

Most favorite part? Maybe picking out the dress? Doing the engagement photos (though the lead up to that was stressful)

I'd hoped there'd be more favorite parts, but it seems everything I thought I'd enjoy has come with some sort of strings. Which leads me to what has surprised me about wedding planning: how anticlimactic it all is. I thought it'd be all excitement all the time and really? It's just a crap ton of work, a few arguments, and a few tears.

  • Besides our actual wedding and HM, the engagement pics, my dress, and planning the HM with DH were my favorite parts :) I honestly thought that planning would be all unicorns, puppy dogs, and ice cream. For the first few months it was, but then I let all the stress get to me. Looking back, I wished I had not taken everything so seriously.
  • What is your favorite part of wedding planning so far?
Getting the RSVPs.  Hands down the best part :)

    What is your least?
Dress shopping.  I hated it.  It was too overwhelming for me and made me extremely anxious and stressed.

What has suprised you the most about planning?
A few things actually:  (1)  how much I enjoyed it all since I didn't think I would.  (2) How crafty I ended up being, who knew?! and (3) How much I love paper products now.  Stationary is now my new love :)
  • Well Im still 4 months out. so this could change, but so far...

My favorite thing has been picking out all the DIY stuff and our reception place.  ( though I havnt started any of the DIY stuff yet, so that could change..lol)

Least Favorite: Dress shopping. It was fun trying dresses on....but it was really hard for me to make a decision.

  • What is your favorite part of wedding planning so far?
    Spreadsheets :)
Seriously, I love to organize. Spreadsheet for adresses, who we sent a STD to, budget, vendor info, etc

    What is your least?
How much money we have to save :P (but it's amazing how you find money you never realized you had- good lesson for the future!)

What has suprised you the most about planning?
How non-stressful it is. I know that I'm still far out (7 months), but I'm such a planner/organizer, I feel like we're way ahead of the game.
  • What is your favorite part of wedding planning so far?
All the paper products. I'm biased because I'm a graphic designer though, so it's always been fun for me. I had a lot of fun doing the STDs and I already have a pretty good idea of what I'm doing for the invites themselves (currently researching art deco designs to incorporate). I also just bought a vinyl cutter, so as soon as it arrives I'm going to start plotting all the ways I can use that. I want to make paper luminaries for table centerpieces and now I'll be able to do it quite easily!

    What is your least?
Guest list. FI keeps stressing me out adding whoever he wants to. We don't have much money to work with and he doesn't seem to get that every additional person he adds to the list costs money. If these people were really important in our lives it'd be one thing, but it'll be random people like a kid he went to grade school with who he hasn't seen in 10 years...uh, NO?

What has suprised you the most about planning?
That FI wants to be so involved. He wants to help with everything except the paper/craft projects.

  • What is your favorite part of wedding planning so far?
So far, since I don't have much planned, it was picking out the venue. I loved visiting different places and I absolutely love the reception venue we decided on (plus we get a major discount because it is owned by the hospital my mom works at!!!).

    What is your least?

So far, nothing! However, I can imagine that our guest list is going to be a horror and I can already tell that picking out bridesmaids dresses is going to be stressful as well!

What has suprised you the most about planning?
I am slightly surprised by how much FI wants to be involved. He loves talking about the wedding and planning it. He even compiled a list (unbenounced to me) of first dance songs that he loved and had me listen to them!

  • What is your favorite part of wedding planning so far?
I would definitely say picking out my dress! I am so happy with the final pick. I will say however it was stressful in the beginning because I got stuck in a rut and didnt expand my style interest, but once I did I was happy with my final choice.

    What is your least?

I would say the things I have no control over such as the fact that none of my bridesmaids have ordered their dresses yet. Grrr!!! My other least favorite part is how over involved my mom is trying to be. Its almost like she is trying to take over so everything can be how she wants it.

What has suprised you the most about planning?
I think I was suprised by how much it all cost haha even though that should be expected. Even with a wedding on a budget, everything is still rather expensive!
