Buying Fabric

I am planning on using fabric for a few DIY things and I am having the hardest time finding what I am looking for!  I would like a pretty patterned fabric in a silvery color (or even a periwinkle or light purple would work) I think the only place by me in the Canton area that even has fabric is JoAnns and they had a pretty small selection.  I'm not opposed to buying online.  Does anyone know where I could find a larger selection or have a good website I could use?

TIA!

I have heard great things about Haberman's Fabrics in Royal Oak, if you don't mind the drive.

    Hobby Lobby sells fabric also

Go online to the JoAnns website, use the store locator, and look for a JoAnns superstore near you.  I know there's one in Ypsilanti, but I'm sure there are others.  Way bigger fabric selection!

I also second Hobby Lobby, and while I've never been there, I've heard great things about Haberman's.

Buying fabric online can be tricky because it's difficult to tell colors on your computer (I've been disappointed a couple times), so I'd exhaust all in store options first.  But I've purchased from Hancock Fabrics online twice now and always had a great experience.  They allow you to return uncut fabric, so if it turns out it's not what you wanted, you can send it back.

There's also a larger JoAnn's in Novi next to BBB. I picked up some pretty nice fabric there and the ladies are super nice and can help make recomendations.

Check out some quilt stores. Plus those ladies in quilt sotres will help you find anything, order anything for you or tell you what store has what you are looking for.

Allison, I "third" Haberman's in Royal Oak..............fabulous collection of "different" types of fabrics. It's pricey though, but they do have a remnant & sale section in the back of the store.

If you are coming to the "eastern side" of Woodward, LOL, try here first:

You'll have to call first to get their hours, it's not on their website.

The Joann's on John R in Troy (just south of 14 Mile) also has a large selection of finer fabrics, while you are in the area. I go there a lot and have thought of purchasing fabrics there for table runners. Lots of shimmery & nice things.

    Good luck.

You guys rock...thanks for all the suggestions.  Looks like I might have to use my day off on Friday to go on a fabric hunt!

Ditto Habermans, best fabric store in the area for sure.

I've purchased from www.fabric.com before and had a great experience, also
